The Blue from their interactive demo is UGLY!! I hope TMO does not release in that color. DARK Navy I can live with - that Phoenix Blue though is not good.

I have a TMO store by my house that I like because the reps are always nice, informed, helpful, etc, etc.
But during lunch I thought I'd try this other TMO store yesterday to see if they had one. The girl and guy looked like they at least knew what an 8700g was, but they said "I think it's going to be around the end of the month." I told them it was going to be out on Monday and wanted to get my name on one so I could buy at as soon as the store opened. The stupid sales rep said "We can't do that - it's corporate policy not to hold one." I told her another TMO store was happy to put my name on the 7100 when it was a week prior to the release date, and she said "well, i guess you better go back there."
Idiots. As I walked out I let them know they just lost a deal for three $400 phones because they wouldn't do something as simple as take my name and call me as soon as it was in stock.
If anyone is in the Plano, TX area - shop ANYWHERE EXCEPT the T-Mobile store in the Shops at Willowbend mall.

Also remember that retail sales monkeys typically aren't on commission.

True.. The other store is just such a night/day difference. They are more than happy to take your name/number and call you the minute an accessory or phone comes in. That means a lot for us early adopters that need the latest gadget the second it comes out!
Naturally they will get my business Monday morning!

I second that sentiment. Just called a nearby TMo store and the man who picked up knew they'd arrive on the 17th, that they only carry four, took my name without my asking, and advised me to be the first one in the door when the store opens . Needless to say... I will heed that suggestion.

This is the number I call 866-464-8662 and use the xxx8220;codexxx8221; 3401GETMOR which provided by crisambo, also i am not an enterprise client, I am just an individual customer with tmobile since 1996, also I don't think I get the discount from ordering the "service", I just added another line to my $49.99 family plan which already have 2 phone for $10 and the $19.99 BIS for the new phone.
I believe all you need is a company name and they will use that account.
So for people who get it for $199 thru TMO, can you tell us which company you use to order the phone, or any promotion code you use?

So just let me recap...if i have a regular plan, would i have to call them, and then upgrade my plan to pay $10.00 more a month for a whole year to get the BB @ a lower rate, or does it just make sense to wait till the stores get it monday and then go upgrade there?

You CANNOT get a phone through that phone number unless you intend to open a new account. They do not handle upgrades.

I ordered one today using the promo code in this thread to get the phone for $299 - $50 rebate. However, after ordering the phone, I am only paying a monthly fee of $9.99/month for the phone service.
Here is how I understand it to work. You can only get this promo is you have a monthly service fee in excess of $34.99/month. This can be a new service plan OR an existing family plan with 2 or more lines already on the plan. I already have a monthly plan of $69.99/month. The rep told me that it qualifies for the promo. So, I ordered the 8700g and added it to my monthly plan for $9.99/month (so it will share in my family plan minutes). That is it. I did not add the BIS for $19.99 or the Exchange Service for $29.99, it was not required. When I get the phone, they said it will be no problem to swap my SIM card from my 7100t to the 8700g. The phone is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
At $250 for the phone, plus $9.99/month for 12 months (it is only a 12 month contract), for a total of $370, I figure this has got to be cheaper then buying the phone outright, which is what I was waiting to do. Plus, I get an additional phone line that friends and visitors can use if need be.
I just hope on the 17th they don't announce a price for the phone without a plan below $370. But, if they do, T-Mobile has a 20 day return policy. So, I am protected either way.

Did it all over the phone. I called the 866 number in this thread. Hit option 3 (if I recall right) to set up new line of service. Talked to a CSR. I did not get transfered to any other department. Took about 5 minutes total.

Take a look at my first post a few posts up. I am an existing T-Mobile customer. I did not upgrade my phone. I activated a new line on my family plan for $9.99/month. That is my total monthly service fee for this 8700g - $9.99/month. I did not order, nor did I need to order BIS or Exchange Service.
