If your reply is directed to me - no I did not get an expensive PDA. I got an inexpensive 8700g as I will be using the SIM card (with unlimited internet service) from my 7100t in my new 8700. T-Mobile confirmed when I ordered the 8700 today that it would be no problem to do that. I will use the SIM card from the new 8700 that has phone service only for friends and family that may need a phone when they visit. I have many international friends that visit me. So, just stick the SIM card into their phone and they have a U.S. number that they can use. I will sell my unlocked and now unnecessay 7100t on eBay.
In the end I got a 8700g before general retail release for $370 total ($120 of that spread over 12 months). Pretty good deal in my opinion. But, if the retail price for some reason turns out to be lower then that beginning 4/17, I have 20 days to return the 8700g I just got. A win-win situation in my book.
People who are getting the 8700g for $199 are probably enterprise clients - the biggest and best corporate customers.

Yeah, I did not get the BIS because I really don't need two Blackberries. I would have thought that by buying a Blackberry, they would make you order a data plan. But, they said I did not. So, $9.99/month was the cheapest monthly plan I could get for this new phone. In sum, I basically "upgraded" my 7100t by adding a new line to my family plan for $9.99/month. And as I just posted above, I will swap the SIM card from my 7100t to my new 8700. Good to go.

Just so you know, either of these deals require you to start a NEW service. They will not do an upgrade for you. If you want an upgrade your going to have to wait until next week (and pay at or near retail) which is what i was told after trying to take advantage of the atlantic express promo code. I'm going to have to have my wife setup service and cancel mine.
It's crap...even though my contract is up I cannot cancel my service because t-mobile will not let me sign up for new service after 90 days. Furthermore, my phone was stolen so my current account is held. I can't keep that service and start a new family plan because they will only give me one more additional line and i have to have 6 more months of on time payments to get a fourth at which point i might??? be able to cancel.
I was so pissed off when i wasted an hour at work and ended up with nothing. I'm going to get my wife to call about the promo and get us service.

Thanks for this.
My phone was not activated properly, so I had to drive up to a T-Mobile store to call back to try to get this taken care of and they were asking for this.

Ever since the Research in Motion-vs.-NTP battle escalated, we haven't heard too much from RIM in terms of product announcements--until now. Along with T-Mobile, RIM introduced the BlackBerry 8700g at CTIA this year, replacing the BlackBerry 7290 and sprucing up T-Mobile's smart-phone lineup. Like its cousin, the BlackBerry 8700c for Cingular, the BlackBerry 8700g offers users a next-gen device with a full QWERTY keyboard, and it comes with an Intel processor and EDGE speeds for faster performance. In addition to support for Bluetooth 2.0 and up to 10 corporate or personal e-mail accounts, the 8700g offers some extras that make it more consumer-friendly and easier to use right out of the box than the 8700c. Overall, the device delivers on all fronts: as a phone, an e-mail machine, and a handheld. The RIM BlackBerry 8700g will cost $299.99 with a two-year contract (or $349.99 with a one-year contract) and will be available on April 17.

i wouldnt say anything ISNT possible. with the right service rep and the right argument a customer could achieve or obtain about anything. it seems like until monday it might not be probable. but one never knows.

I just stopped by my local corporate store and the salesman even pulled one of the boxes out from the back for me to hold. He even wrote my name on the box with a sharpy to hold it for me. Of course he didn't have a price for me because the computer hadn't loaded it yet, but I think this thread already has a good idea of what the price will be. The 8700 looks so damn cool, even just by the picture on the box, I'm so frickin excited. I'll be there 9a.m. sharp to pick mine up.

My local T-Mobile store did the same...
put my name/# on a post it, and rubber banded around the box.
They let me hold one for a second. The best news was that it fits VERY securely in my 7100t holster that I got in the original box, which is nice because I love the holster.
My old man has an 8700c that I dinked around with a little today, and it was pretty easy to type. Kind of ugly on the screen though, the screenshots I've seen for the 8700g are way sharper.
Only three more days.

2 Year agreement
Retail price (BB 8700) = $349.99 - $40.00 MCSA discount = Upfront cost: $309.99 plus a $50.00 mail in rebate = Final cost $259.99

Ouch - you need a new rep. ;)
National "Enterprise" accounts are getting $199 on a one year.

I just called out National Account Manager and had a $199 8700g the next day. If you havea friend at a major company have them get it and transfer service into your name?

Please explain this to me once again (and I apologize if you already have). You called the 800 number given earlier in this thread and used the promotional code, and then continued to simply request an add of the $19.99 BIS service on a line underneath a family account?
Or did you receive the BB for $199 through your company representative?
My original statement was referring to the 800/promotional code deal. Not deals through company reps.

I don't know anything about 800 numbers or promo codes... this is through our account rep. Seems to be better than retail but not as good as people are getting from dealers (with rebates). Of course, I didn't have to activate a new line ethier.

Ah, well, there you go. The man I was responding to was inquiring about the promotional code.

I work for Tesoro refinery and they only deal with cingular. But for $249, I think still a good price.
