It definitely does not switch networks seamlessly. If I set my default Network to Internet, BBC seems to be able to manage the initial connection to RIM and I can launch Blazer and surf. But going back is another thing. The Treo seems smart enough to dump the connection once Blazer exits but BBC does not seem to bring itself back online without manual intervention.

That's what I encountered as well. The lack of seemless back-and-forth is going to mean that I will be going back to chatter to access my Exchange email. Bummer.

I know nothing about this...this leads me to believe that BB is moreless considered the OS and Treo is a type of "phone" per se (Handheld/pda/etc) if you are putting a BB on a Treo

For instance, is it correct to assume that it makes no sense to put a Treo on a BB

Has anyone had any success on a T-mobile network? I have a BB on T-mobile with coporate BES. I'm wondering if I can take the sim from the BB and put it in my unlocked Treo 650.

Got it working first time on O2 UK with no issues at all. Automatically suspends and restarts BES before and after web browsing. One issue in use is the lack of alerts for BBC messages.

The software was downloaded from SingTel (see middle of thread for details). I suspect it is generic software (similar to when the first BBC came out for the SE P910).

I put this on my Cingular Treo 650 and did not like it. I probably did not play around with it long enough but the limitations it has send me running back to my 8700c with open arms. The fact I cannot seamlessly move back to my Internet connection sucked. Also, not being able to invite attendees to meetings is a big draw back.
My 8700c is rock solid, stable and I am going to stick with it.

Solved the BBC alert problem. I also have RingProfiles and had the system sounds turned off!

LOL - My thoughts EXACTLY!! I love my 8700c. I snagged a 650 to test yesterday and got the calendar and email working. But I could not get the Internet to connect at all. Even if I tried disconnecting the BB Network and connecting MEdia Net it wouldn't connect. But it's not an officially sanctioned product either, so we knew kind of what to expect. I may try it out some more on Monday, but we have a 9300 at the office that I'll be setting up for someone else. That's a bulky phone! I don't think things could get better than an 8700c. Except for maybe adding a camera - that was cool on the Treo!

Does BB Connect generate a new pin for the Treo? I have a 6320 and want to try this but wasn't sure how this works for the PIN or is that even required for the BES to work.

IMO, it is a good move by Palm. by introducing BB connect on Treo 650, it gave the old phone an extension of lifespan and more time for them to get ready a newer PalmOS Treo.

Its all about RIM. The best thing I like about BB is os. It is designed to make your life easy. I can type 70 words a minute on my 7250. I had the treo for awhile. The thing I can't stand about it is the stylus. Your not going to get that thing out when your driving to try to sms someone. I know you don't have to use touch screen on it, but it's a pain in the ass to use unless you do. In the future RIM is going to come out with some pretty cool devices. It is going to blow palm out of the water.

i support a large medical practice (surgeons). half on BB half on Treo 650. Hate the treo since i am always fixing them. the only reason they give me for not switching over to BB is ePocrates. a prescription formulary software. they only make it for palm and windows mobile. if they made it for BB my life would be so much easier. i will give palm this. they have a lot more software and almost all of it is free.

Waiting for RIM to come out with a pretty cool device, I suspect we will be waiting a long time.

"The server did not recognize your username and password" when I try to access BBC? I am on BES and the setup went fine. Any ideas?

Default Just for laughs...

I tried the "remote kill" option on my BES account, to wipe and disable a BB handheld.

With the BB Connect client this executes a "hard reset" on the T650, wiping all user data in NVRAM (but not touching the SD card, obviously).
