Hey all,
For some unforseen reason my 7290 stopped giving its vibrating phone and message notification. I did a search and tried cleaning the dust out of the contacts, and looked for a bent contact as previous posts suggested but had no luck. I double checked the configuration and all is right, but it still won't vibrate. Does anyone have any other suggestions that may work?
Thanks,
fmaglin

Are you using a 3rd party theme? Try switching back to the default theme. Also, try removing the battery for 30 seconds.

Also, how old is the device? It may warrant a manafact. replacement.

No 3rd party theme. I tried removing the battery and rebooting. No luck.

If you have had the product less than 1 yr, I would suggest exchanging the unit:

I received my device on March 16, 06. I did call Cingular and their rep had me remove the battery and describe the color of a sticker located under the battery. Mine was a white square. The rep told me that if it were red it meant that the phone had gotten wet and would not be eligible for free replacement. The only thing that bothers me about the replacement is that they said it may be a refurbished BB, which I guess is all right, but it seems to me that if you bought a refurbed BB it should be replaced with one; however if you bought a new BB the replacement should be new. I guess I shouldn't be picky as long as I receive one that functions properly.

The way it works is, if a unit is defective, you get a refurb. If the unit is lost/stolen, you get a new one with a charge.

Don't let the word "Refurb" bother you. The refurb units they send will look as new as yours did when you bought it and will work perfectly.

There is nothing wrong with the refurbished BlackBerrys. I support 1600+ BlackBerry users and have handled a number of refurb unit. Only one came in DOA, the rest worked flawless and looked brand new. The main difference I notice on the refurb units is the lack of the carrier sticker on the front. Instead of having the oval Cingular sticker on the front of a 7290, its just a plain black sticker.

Just so you know, I have the exact same issue with my 7290 and so do three people in my office. Something is wrong and your issue is not an isolated issue.
