Default What format of theme do you like?

Please Login to Remove!

There are several basic ways to format themes with Plazmic Theme Builder so I would like some opinions of type people prefer.

1) "Visible Icons" themes made with icons that relate to the background and
are always visible

2) "Hidden Icons" themes made with icons that relate to the background and
appear when scrolled over

3) "Invisible Icons" themes with icons that never appear only the name
changes at the bottom of the screen when scrolled over?

4) "List format" themes ( currently only available for 71XX series)

Please let me know what type of BB you use and the format you prefer

Its not on your list, but the Zen format (71xx) is my current one. Because it has your necessary icons on the screen and the bottom icon is like Window's start button bringing up a list menu of the rest of the icons. But if i had to choose one off of your list i would choose "Hidden Icons".

I left zen out because I can not create themes using that format in Theme Builder

(i'm loving the zen theme on my 7105t. and having the Address Book, Calendar and Options accessible via shortcut on the homescreen just makes it even keener.)

i like some of the 4.1 themes being created, but the banner style is a huge change that i'm not too pleased with - mostly the battery and antenna dial gauges. and while the custom icons are grand and can add some great character, since you don't recognize them immediately you need to learn your handset again, almost anew.

the transparent themes are neat and great so that you can see your background image (but do you really have that much time available that you can just sit, veg out and gape at your handset all day?). to touch on my above comment, the icons are new, different, all crammed onto one "page" and not only are they in a new order, but you can't even see them so that you know where to be scrolling! also, your 3rd party apps can't fade out, so unless you want a goofy looking icon list, they all gotta to go to the bottom.

(granted, you're going to learn what each icon now represents. and you'll remember the order you placed them in. but that's a heck of a learning curve. just before i looked into the zen theme i was about to request an adjusted theme with icons at higher opacity.)

but i don't think i've seen a theme featuring "hidden icons" - could you point one out, please?

most of the latest themes in the "Custom-made Themes Corner - OS 4.1" thread are either hidden or invisible icon themes.

let me know what BB do you use and I'll put a link to a hidden icon theme here for you

List themes, but Im awaitig one that has tasks on the main screen instead of within applications. I realise this could be done via zen but i still like the battery and signal meters off the default themes more.

I'd like to know if there's a file I could download and edit to modify themes to my liking. I prefer list type themes but would like to choose my own text titles. I use a logo on my main screen and can't have a bunch of icons covering it up or long text tags overwriting it. Zen it good but how do I hide icons not needed in the secondary lists?

freebirdwil thanks ya

Plazmic has the only theme maker, try searching google or the forums for ther site, but it is limited in what it allows you to do, alowing only basic icon or lists. to make anything more you need to work at rim or be a phone network provider it seams. Hopefully 1 day someone will make something better than plazmic. Till then we'r stuck with icons, lists, zen or the today themes about to be released.

I've held off on posting in this thread to to add up download totals.
The short version answer to the question asked would be.
based upon download totals only of themes i have offered, those with visable icons win by a 2:1 margin. It would appear most would like to see all the icons at all times however a second poll with a different look at the numbers would also show that at a 2:1 margin ppl like the focus icon to be something different than the original icon.
So eye candy wins rather than imagination or memory.

It's interesting to see the results and ponder as to why they are.

Hmmmm things that make you go Hmmmm?

As to the original questions?
1. visable
2. invisable till focus

2a. Hide those never used to clear a path and simplify my track wheel mistakes
3. Wish Zen was an option so i could be better informed.

I have a 7105t and I prefer hidden icons which prevent me from opening an app by accident.
