Default Sprint EVDO Tethering is Active

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently connected through my 7250 from Sprint with a EVDO connection. I called in today and spoke with a great tech support guy based in KC and he had to change me from a $36 unlimited BB plan I was on to a $39.99 plan which included the tethering option. Within a couple of hours, everything works!

EVDO is significantly faster than 2.5x gen cell technology. you can avg of speeds between 250k to up to 700k (with verizon or sprint).

I've been averaging about 310k to 426k with my 7250 on sprint.

EDGE is pretty fast , from what ive seen and tested, but not as fast as EVDO. If you wait another year, the GSM carriers in the US (Europe already has UMTS) , will release the "evdo" version for their gsm network called "UMTS".

The choice is yours, but i've been a CDMA junky for a while. Do a search, you'll read up on some users comments about evdo!

Good to hear, i'll probably have to call sprint myself. I've been reading mixed reviews here on the forums, some people have them automatically turned on for them, which i find it peculiar why that's happening, and the other, well like me, can't tether.

But definitely good to know that they are supporting it and offering it for not much more!

hackorsack,
I've just bought a Sprint 7250 and the guys at the store told me that EDVO isn't available on this model. I don't think they know what they're talking about seeing that blackberrys are hardly used in the Mpls area. How did you set up your BB to utilize the EDVO network?

All you need to do is download the Sprint connection manager - and make certain you load the BB deaktop software so the USB drivers are installed - and the device will function correctly.
