Default Creating Berry 411 plugin

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone please help me create a Bible search plugin for Berry 411?

The site I'm trying to use is http://pda.mobible.org/12/search.htm

However, if I search for GOD I notice the URL changes to pda.mobible.org/cgi-bin/find?find=god&pref=0&lang=12&test=all

The instructions say to put %s in but I don't know if this goes at the beginning or at the end. Can someone give me advise to get this to work?

I can't get it to work either. The way I think it is supposed to work is:

Edit Plugins -> Enter something like this:
PluginName=http://www.thesite.com/search.php?searchfor=%s

%s is supposedly used as a placeholder for the word you will be searching for.

There are two problems I am having...1) The field is not long enough to hold the entire url you need and 2) It isn't actually putting the search term in place of %s, instead, it is adding ": searchterm" to the end of the url.

In your example, I would have expected this to work correctly, but it does not for the above mentioned reasons:
Bible=http://pda.mobible.org/cgi-bin/find?find=%s&pref=0&lang=12&test=all

Thanks, I'm getting closer. I finnally got an error from yhe site instead of 411.

When I use //pda.mobible.org/cgi-bin/find?find=%s as the link I get the same as when I put it in my puter web browser.

As you stated, the field is not long enough for the rest of the parameters.

How about one for www.biblegateway.com ? It'd be nice to have an NIV version!

I personally think Biblegateway is a bit busy for a handheld. They put so much on the screen it's hard to find what you looked for (just my opinion).

What do you think about this site? http://pda.mobible.org/ It does not have a searchable NIV YET but it does have a WEB version. The WEB looks more of a CEV (Contemporary English Version) than NIV. Thoughts?

If you like this site, maybe Phil can do something like

BibleKJV=http://pda.mobible.org/cgi-bin/find?find=%s&pref=0&lang=12&test=all

BibleWEB=http://pda.mobible.org/cgi-bin/find?find=%s&pref=0&lang=0&test=all

If you still want biblegateway, the link would be something like

BibleNIV=http://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=%s&qs_version=31

And if you're going to do that then we might as well ask for Amplified

BibleAMP=http://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=%s&qs_version=45

and any other version someone may want before we ask Phil to make the entries.

How about a longer text field length (atleast 255, maybe even longer if it doesn't hurt the programs speed or memory requirements too much) and the exact syntax to use when entering a url in for a plugin since we couldn't figure out how to get it working? This way, you could use whichever one you wanted to.

Yeah, I definitely agree that Biblegateway is way too busy for a handheld, it's just that I really prefer the NIV version and that's the only one I know of. If you know of a less busy one, do let me know! Maybe we should harass Biblegateway to develop a mobile version of their website... I wonder how difficult that is?

Not necessarily. Almost on a daily basis I ask God to give me the strength to not smash my device into a million pieces because it's not going fast enough for me

Why is that a little wierd? I've been "sitting around" reading the Bible on a Pocket PC for years while I'm waiting on someone or in a line somewhere. Or I might read another book, or take a look at a to-do list, or . . . Isn't that what these devices are for? To make life a little simlper?

Or is it the fact that it's the Bible that's wierd to you?
