Plusmo is a free "offline" web browser and RSS reader for your Blackberry. If you're tired of waiting while surfing the web on your online browser, try browsing using Plusmo. Plusmo channels content from web sites in advance so you can read it instantly anytime, anywhere. There is no waiting since all the information is downloaded and locally cached on the device. There are also a number of cool "gadgets" that you can setup - these are mini applications you may find useful on your BlackBerry to find cheap gas nearby or locate the nearest Starbucks. Plusmo is completely free.

What can you do with Plusmo?
  • View Channels: Your favorite content delivered to you. Read the day’s news in pictures, view cartoons, catch up on your favorite gadget blog, get your dose of celebrity gossip, keep up with your local sports team, read movie reviews and lots more.
  • Use Gadgets: These are little utilities that you can personalize like traffic reports, weather, locate cheap gas nearby, find the nearest Starbucks, local events, movie reviews, search classifieds, search eBay, browse Hot or Not and much more.
  • Create your own: If you don’t find a channel, quickly create one at Plusmo and share it with every one. It’s fast and easy. All channels are user created.

Features:
  • Offline Browsing. Even when there’s no signal, your content is cached and available on your mobile device.
  • Friendly user Interface. An easy-launch icon grid of your personal gadgets.
  • Cool image slider. Browse your favorite content in pictures (cartoons, blog posts, pictures from Flickr).
  • Built-in RSS reader. Built-in XHTML-browser and RSS reader with optimized content delivery.
  • Periodic Synchronization. Let the web come to you - setup a daily or a weekly update schedule. Browsing is local and fast.
  • Advanced Bandwidth Settings. Low, Medium, High and Custom settings to control the amount of content and image sizes.

Sorry about that - We depend on data from the source web sites, and have no way of knowing whether a zip is supported.

Could you try again? I just checked and I get the following for 77077 - is this more like it? (How to update: When you see the search results on the screen, select the Menu option "Update" and that will force a refetch of data)

There is another Gas Finder gadget based on MSN that also works for that zip code. You could try that one too.

cheers,

Could you tell me what the exact error was? We'll debug it and get you going. You can send and email to [email address] or here.

Pretty good start. Works fine on my 7290. I wish the bb shortcuts were available, like the space bar to scroll a page, using the shift+scroll wheel to move down a row of icons instead of just scrolling through each row and short cut keys for next, prevevious, read more, save page and back.

Why are some icons unremovable, like the starbucks? Thanks.

I agree. Installed it with no problem. Added some gadgets. All in all a good program. Once it matures, and more content is available I may reload it ...

Anyone else having problems keeping this running in the background? It seems to shut down spontaneously sometimes giving an uncaught exception error, but usually with no indication.

it seems to be working really well on my 7290. Does anyone know if its possible to load personal websites? or do you have to pick from the pre-loaded categories?

I keep getting the following error: "Oops! Connection dropped. Please try again later./ java.io.IOException: could not open tunnel-failed." on my BlackBerry 7105t.

I was previously able to connect, then deleted the app. Decided to give it another try and get the above after 5 attempts by the program to connect.

I am also confused as to where to enter the password that is sent with the link to download the app. It says keep it and enter it the first time I run plusmo, but where do I enter this??

Doesn't work on my Verizon 7250. Keeps telling me either "Oops! Not enough memory on your device" even though I have a few megs free, or "You need a new version.", but there's no new version on the WAP site.

Gave up for now, will try again in the future.
