I've done this several times and got no push-back whatsoever from Cingular. They've been very accommodating.
They have suggested not dropping the international plan immediately upon returning, though. Apparently there can be a delay in charges appearing on the account, and if the charge appears after you've dropped the unlimited international plan, you get hit for the roaming amount. That's never happened to me, but that's what they said.
