Default SharkModem Trouble...

Please Login to Remove!

I have the 7105t. I downloaded the trial sub. of Sharkmodem and installed it on my pc. transferred the .alx file to my BB and all is well, except the icon on the taskbar of the pc says the program is running on the handheld. I opened the app on the BB and i can only get to a screen that asks you if you want TCP or BES, I followed the instructions in the userguide and said TCP and accepted the comm.

What have I done wrong? Is there some special thing to do to get it to run in the handheld?

Please help...

No that's all you do then follow the owners manual in terms of setting up the proxy and it will work fine. I use it on my 8700 and even figured out how to get through my corp system to replicate my lotus notes. Follow the owners manual and it will work.

Default thanks...

I went through the whole thing a few times over. Should I just delete it and start over...it's starting to get frustrating...should the handheld display anything special when the app is "opened" and running? is it possible to get a screenshot of yours when you're connected and all is working fine...

I think I might be missing one stupid detail or something.

Thanks for your help...

On the handheld it just shows Connect via TCP or BES and whether you are registered. The rest is done on your PC. Follow the manual Yoda.

Okay...I got it to work. I had to do a hard-reset of my handheld as it states in the user-guide. How should I expect it to run? In terms of speed and such. I noticed it has a verry difficult time loading some images, (or all the images on a given page). when I did have the BB modem working it loaded images better but pages slower than the Shark Modem.

I have one Question left and that is: Is it worth the $35.00 to get Mobishark, or just use the built-in modem of the BB 7105t, and deal with the connection speed of 4.5-5.5Kbps?

Are you charged for the built in one. Like I have said to many until we get to the next generation, I think these modems are best for email and light web use unless you have EVDO from VZ or Sprint.

Not any extra than my monthly bill, I have the Unlimited internet plan T-Mobile has.

I guess I'm trying to expect a dog to do the work of a horse...

When the new gen. come out, will we have to buy a whole new handheld?

Rumor is 8700 has the guts for UMTS with the Intel chip, but question is will RIM provide the flash for the unit to do it?
