Question battery level stuck at 10%

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm a new blackberry user and after reading "Mark's Big FAQ" I found out that a new blackberry's battery should be run out all the way and then charged for the first 3 cycles.

For the past 18 hours, my battery has been stuck at 10%, and as you all know, a message comes up on the screen that tells you that the blackberry has too little battery to hold a service signal, i.e., no phone calls, SMS, email, internet.

I've been doing EVERYTHING to try and run the battery all the way down so that it turns off so that I have fully drained it. Does the battery never run down? Should I just charge it now? I need the wireless signal to be on, but I don't want to compromise my battery life for the long run.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions? Comments?

Thanks.

10% is fine.. I initially ran it down to 10-15%. If you really want to drain it, play brickbreaker.

Although I am sure Mark is very educated, as I am not trying to say he is not, but lithium ion batteries nowadays do not need to be drained severely and then recharged. Someone else in this forum put a post to www.batteryuniversity.com which has a lot of informative stuff and I think this is better advice.

just my two cents.

I still think the jury is out on running your battery so low. This is NOT good for L-Ion batteries and will really decrease it's life and performance.

The only batteries that should be run down are ni-cads.

You should not drain lithium-ion, nickel-metal-hydride or for that matter lead-acid batteries!
