Public MDS has been released for Rogers Clients. Meaning You can browse full html websites.

Login to your BWC Account, and then go into your options menu, and you should see a "Send Internet Client Service Book"

If you dont, request your WEB CLIENT service books to be resent.

What does this mean? Does it make any difference? Should I even try it? Will it wipe out all my customizations, contacts, bookmarks, anything else?

I have been surfing the internet using my BB with Images turned off, mostly because they take too long to load, and images are not that important to me when I'm using the BB. But if the formating of HTML pages is improved as a result, I'm very curious.

Well, if you are only using BWC then it will be a big improvement over the exiting WAP browser...

If you are on a BES it will probably not provide any benefits over the BlackBerry Browser (unless your admin has it disabled)

You will not loose any data or customized settings from receiving a new service book.

I say give it a go!

yeah, it's not full tcp/ip sockets, telnet tries to connect but gets disconnected...

irc appears to do the same, but it doesn't borf out anymore!!!

and i have two browsers now! i guess one is the full HTML browser? Could version 4.0 be far behind?

IPPP for BIBS (IPPP)

i guess this IPPP is just for web browsing then? Is this a restricted IPPP? I'm unable to get any regular internet apps to work

Just so everyone knows, this only works with devices using the 3.7.1 or high handheld software.



It shouldn't cost you anything, it's part of your BlackBerry Data plan. :D

Hi, I am not too sure what the difference should look like. Can someone point out a website that I can type in my BB so that I can verify if I now have HTML capabilities ? I tried www.hotmail.com but it still doesn't work. Thanks.

Try: http://mobile.msn.com follow the MSN Hotmail link to login that that should work...

MDS type services will only work with the 4.0 software because of it's TCP/IP stack. 3.7 might work if you can disable the firewall (speculation here).

4.0.0.100 running WebMessenger here, working right now. (And I only have an 8MB 6710).

So far the only difference to me is we have HTML access, but i already had that with the RBRO hack..

Hence, there is still little difference between the two. I'll continue to wait paitently for 4.0, then i can get real apps working..

btw, if they are deploying instant messengers on the CHARM then i would guess they want to enable tcp/ip by the time the charm is out later this month, so i'd suspect we'll see 4.0 quite soon..

Charm is 3.8 and I heard it also has its own tcp stack.

There's a huge speed difference for html pages going thru MDS vs WAP..

Also 4.0 handheld software on a 4.0 BES will have MUCH better support for HTML then the old RBRO trick

I hear from my companies RIM rep that, animated GIFs, Macromedia Flash and SVG, backbround images and colours, and tables oh and Java Script with javascript popups (which open a new browser page not an actual popup) will be much better supported with 4.0 (aswell as being able to save images from the browser and use them as a background/screensaver)

In other words the browser will actually be very competative to other manfacturers browser and in alot of cases far surpasing their capabilities

Ive seen SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) in the BlackBerry Browser and all I can say is man this is what the internet is meant to be on a handheld not this WAP crap lol

rich animated interactive content (similar to flash) which loads in no time.
