Default How to sync e-mail with Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

I am not using BES or BIS. How can I sync e-mail with the Desktop Manager? It only gives me options to sync calendar, contacts, memos and tasks.

Thanks,
David

The only way to synch email is to be on a BES.

ER ? untrue

With Desktop Redirector, you can reconcile emails with your Outlook

You need :
-> BB Desktop Manager
(installed selecting "Desktop Redirector or BES" not the "BIS")

-> Outlook (Outlook Express will not work)

Then, your emails will be reconciled to your BB

Downside : you will need your computer open and Redirector running to have your emails sent to your BB wirelessly.

OP did not ask about reconciling - they asked how to sync. The BlackBerry does not sync e-mail. E-Mail is pushed by either BES, BIS or the Desktop Redirector. It is never synced. You sync calendar, notes, contacts and tasks..

I'm having an issue: I just bought the 8700c and installed Desktop Manager on my computer at work. My work doesn't have BES so I'm using BIS instead. Should i install Desktop manager in the BES setting (which installs the Redirector) or the BIS setting (which does not), i'm a bit confused. for some reason i'm having trouble sending messages. On the BB it says they went through (indicated by an orange CHECK mark) but some people just aren't getting the responses. Any help here?

I would say install it as BIS since you are using BIS. If you are installing it as BES, it is putting desktop service books on, and your BB will default to using those service books...and you'll get strange emails in your inbox.

With Rogers you set up your BIS push email with your Outlook/ O Express account on this website. https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=rogers
Filters can be set to select which email addresses you wish to receive. It is really very, very easy to do. I cannot find a Redirector function on my Desktop Mgr.. perhaps it has been 'stripped', for the 8700r ?

Redirector doesn't install with DM unless you select Microsoft Exchange as your mail server. I spent a moronic amount of time ignoring this fact trying to get it to work with Groupwise
