Default IM+ 4.0.4 problem

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone install the new version yet?

I tried installing it to my 8700g and it just crashes on the color logo that is displayed when you open the program. Have to reboot. Tried reinstalling it a couple of times, but it just hangs each time I start it.

Update: I wiped by handheld, reinstalled the OS and IM+ by itself. Ran fine.

Then I ran Enterprise Activation for my BES, and IM+ now hangs...

Same here. Upgraded to 4.0.4. Software hangs on splash screen. I'm on a 7290 on BES.

I have that problem with any OS version above Telstra. If I go back to the orginal Cingular OS it works fine. I was loosing my mind. I thought it was just me. I reported this issue during the version 4.0 beta and they didn't do anything about it. I am in the process of reloading the orginal Cingular OS now so I can at least use the product.

Good by to the Zen theme...

Default Same Here

I have reported it and they have advised it will be fixed shortly. The strange thing is if you pull the battery and let it reboot and launch it as soon as you have connected to the network it launches. If I launch PocketDay or if I exit the program, close all not to the background, and then try to launch it it freezes everytime. I am amazed this was missed during Beta, I offered to be a beta tester but they never responded to me. Hope it is resolved soon as the new features seem to be quite handy.

I was told by support to install the latest OS from Blackberry's site. I'm on T-Mobile, and from what I've read of others installing the latest version (Dobson), I'm not crazy about going that route...

Don't waste your time doing that! I already did that and it didn't work. Any OS version past Telstra doesn't work with any 4.x version. You can go back to version 3.x and it works fine.

I went back to the stock Cingular OS and 4.04 is now working fine. I has something to do with the Operating System version.

I went back to IM+ 3.2.4 (they sent me a link to it after all these problems arose yesterday) until they can fix 4.0.4.

I kept my OS at .284 (the T-Mobile build) for now.

I decided to try the software and did the OTA download. It hangs on startup for me with the stock Cingular OS software. I rebooted several times and get the same issue. Should I bother to contact their support and try an older version or give up and wait for a new release.

Default Not OS

Support told me to upgrade my OS as well, but I have 4.1.319 which as far as I know is the latest so I don't think that has anything to do with it either

Give up and wait for a fix, which they're working on. When it works, IM+ is great.

Support told me this morning that 4.0.4 is known to bomb if you attempt an upgrade install from 3.x.x.

That's interesting... It also bombs on a newly installed OS. I find it frustrating that I reported this during the beta and they still released the product. I work in the software industry and you should never release a product until it's ready! (I hope Microsoft is listening )

It is funny that they released this with this problem still lurking. I tried to participate in the beta test 4.0.2 BETA and reported this very same problem. They told me over 2 weeks ago they were working on it, and I haven't heard a word back. which is strange because normall the people at Shapeservices have been very quick.

The work around I found, while a pain in the ass is as follows:

1. Turn wireless radio off
2. Start IM+, it should get passed the splash screen and start to try to log in.
3. Turn wireless radio on and wait for IM+ to connect to the server

Like I said, a painful work around, but it has been working for me for a couple of weeks.

Default New Version (fix) Monday

According to Shape Services technical support there is a bug fix coming out tomorrow to address this issue as I have been helping them debug it. I hope it works this time.

Yup - reported this to them at the beta stage but they did not seem interested.

The update did nothing for me. I still freeze at the splash screen. Why do I have this feeling I have a handheld wipe in my future?
