Default tcp/internet on a Telus 7750

Please Login to Remove!

On my Telus blackberry 7750 their is no option for tcp in the options menu. keep in mind, this isnt the fancy shamcy Telus Blackbery with the Atenna on the "Mike" plan. I am having alot of trouble getting anything to work on here and for somereason it only has a WAP browser, no blackberry browser.

so what do i do to get internet (verichat, reqwireless) to work on my TELUS 7750 and if that means going with a BES then let me know who is the best

big thank you to whomever has any info

Unfortunately, 7750 does not have a TCP/IP stack. You'll need BES.

Pick one of the following solutions:

(1) Go to BES. See Hosted BES FAQ; or
(2) Switch carriers to one that is known to support TCP/IP; or
(3) Upgrade to model 7250 when Telus releases it; or
(4) Pray and hope RIM releases a BlackBerryOS upgrade with TCP/IP stack (i.e. BlackBerryOS 4.0.0.204 or later for 7750) which does not yet exist.

Configuring BES is a pain sometimes; but the people at the best BES services at the top of my "Hosted BES FAQ" are generally pretty helpful. They actually make it easy. Just make sure you get help from the company in setting up your BES. Make sure you already have Microsoft Outlook 2003 as that is the easiest to configure.

Once this is up and running, it's very easy. There are many advantages of BES, such as wireless Outlook synchronization (my favourite BES feature).

BES works on all BlackBerries, just make sure you are allowed to use BES. Some carriers such as T-Mobile, charge $10 extra to allow you to connect to BES.

Outlook 2003 is the easiest way to connect to the BES, which is required for provisioning your MDS for Internet access. So in answer to your question, yes.

Outlook 2003 is required if you also want wireless Outlook synchronization. For example, anything you add in your addressbook on BlackBerry automatically shows up on your Outlook. Or that an appointment added to your Outlook 2003 automatically shows up on your BlackBerry. No need to use a cable for synchronization!

In the past, you can use Outlook 2000/2002 with SOME of the services (i.e. Mailstreet) but it requires some vastly complicated VPN instructions. Outlook 2003 makes life so much simpler. In fact, Outlook 2003 is provided for free by many of the BES providers.

Note: It is possible Reqwireless may work on your 7750 without BES/MDS. Try that first. Verichat is not likely to work (it does on the 7250). But you can install anyway and see if it actually works after all. Make sure you're already upgraded to BlackBerryOS 4.
