Am I the only one that is ancy for this update??? Dont even really know why. Possibly a bad case of gadget-itis.

Has anyone heard any updated rumors as to a release date for the update?

Okay I'm at a loss here.. on nextel.com it says under the 7100i

  • Multimedia Messaging Service
Send or receive Multimedia Messages (either audio, images, text, or all three in the same message) to or from email addresses and other capable users. You can even wirelessly store multimedia on the Sprint web site.
  • On page 53 of the user guide it states "on a webpage, click a .midi or .wav file link, click GET LINK, CLICK MENU, CLICK SSAVE, Type a name for the ring tone, click ok

I'm lost, nextel hurts my head at time...! .or am i late on my info?
check it out on page 53.

Yeah, it's a 'known issue'. The hardware is supposed to support all that, but as of yet, the software doesn't, however if you ask Nextel about advertising something tht they don;t provide, they get all cagey and refer you to vm hell, or at least, that's where I ended up. I asked our Sprint/Nextel rep, and got an 'I'll have to find out', which apparently never happenned...

I agree, it's such a tease. I read all that stuff when I got it and was really dissapointed when I found out that it was incorrect documentation. I can't wait to upgrade software, it'll be nice to have some more features.

Just corresponds with the release date on the Pearl. I doubt it has anything directly related to the firmware upgrade on the 7100i, but I hope I'm proven wrong.
