I have numerous Bluetooth headsets including two Jabras and the Plantronics 645 but none of them work well in a noisy environment. so I am looking for a good 'wired' headset that offers excellent noise cancellation.

Anyone have an opinion?

TheBoom. Very pricey but works fantastic. I just got the Nexzen 550 Bluetooth and it has really impressive noise cancellation.

TheBoom is nice. I think I will try the Plantronics MX250 first. It's only $30.00. If that doesn't work then I will give TheBoom a try.

I've used theBoom "O" version for about 18 months now and it really does work as advertised. I use it on a regular basis for business calls when driving my Miata (top down, of course) on the highway.

When I first got theBoom "O" and called one of my co-workers to test it, I told him that I was going to see how good the wind nose cancellation on this new headset is. Then he said "ok, let me know when you start driving" and I said "I'm already doing 70". It's that good, he coudn't hear any wind noise at all. I was a big plantronics fan before I got this headset - now I won't buy anything else.

The downside is that the earpiece volume is a bit low - not impossible, just not great - although that could be my 7750.

The other downside is (as with any wired headset) they last for about 6 months of hard use before you develop a short at the plug or some other connection.

The "O" model is usually $99 from theboom.com and it goes on sale for $59 every once in a while (I think the last time was around father's day).

I also ditched the bluetooth headsets and went back to wired.

I looked at two, theBoom and the Etymotic ety*com. I decided on the latter because of the size, both had very good reviews as far as incoming/outgoing sound and noise cancellation. It sounds great. When driving with it most people think I'm sitting in a quite office.

The downside with the etycom is the boom tends to drift down and needs to be repositioned. If you plan to use it outside, it needs a windsock which they provide. Otherwise the slightest wind makes the person on the other end think your in a blizzard. It meets my expectations.

Go to HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource and look for the AX PRO or modified AX headset. Home reviewed it. In short, someone took the etycom boom and stuck it to a Nextlink AX2 bluetooth headset. The reviews seems to be very good. You can get instructions for DYI or buy one from someone who does the modifications.
