Default Things the pearl can do with a mac

Please Login to Remove!

So now that the Pearl is out i was thinking we could compile a list of things your can or can't do with a mac and the Pearl that you could/couldn't do with other blackberries and a mac. ie. tethering, mounting like a harddrive, what files you can transfer through BT, dial from address book, so on and so on.

Any mac users pick up a pearl yet and tried any of these things?

So far, the pearl can attach to a mac. Physically.

PocketMac 3 doesn't work with it, the blackberry seems to want to draw more power than a MacBook will provide, giving a "low power" warning when plugged into the MacBook Pro. Annnnnd. That's pretty much as far as I've gotten so far. Wish I could sync my data to the BBy. Makes me want to use my old 7105 until pocketmac gets their act together (or at least enough to release a version which can talk to the pearl).

So i picked up my pearl yesterday. So what i have done with the mac is:

bluetooth modem (thanks to the sticky at the top of this forum)
file transfers- jpegs to and from the BB, ringtones to the BB

I don't have a memory card yet but from the above posters experience is that it will mount just like any other harddrive on the desktop.

8100 as Bluetooth Edge modem works well with the MacBookPro. More convenient that being tethered to my previous 7100t.

MicroSD card works well for pictures.

Unfortunately, no Sync with Entourage or AddressBook under OS X. Buy the latest phone and calendar and contacts are always out of date due to lack of synch. I had the same issue with my 7100 initially (with Intel OS X). Hopefully, PocketMac will offer an update soon.

yeah you can transfer files via bluetooth. you have to go under the ringtones menu and hit the "menu" key. select "receive using bluetooth" option and then attempt the file transfer from your mac.

Question insert a mini sd card and usb file xfer works: t-mobile tech

I just got off the phone with a t-mobile tech support dude who did on on-site visit with a Mac guy.

The tech rep says that for moving data and media (video, songs, & pictures) just insert the mini SD card and connect the USB cable - it will act like a drive. I'm dying to try this.

Anyone try this yet?
