Lightbulb 3 Years Ago

Apparently, the Pearl was in research and development for 3 Years.

When I think about that, and read about all the complaints, RIM should actually feel embarrased if it took them 3 years.

Anyways, supposidely when RIM was making the Pearl, I was still in High School! Let alone, in the 11th grade!

What were you doing 3 years ago?

Welp just cause something has been in development for a long time doesn't really mean much. Windows new releases are usualy in development for over 5 years. Construction on freeways takes several years and afterwords there are a lot of potholes still. Point is just because something is in development for a long time doesn't mean much because usualy they want to pack too much into it since a lot changes in 3 years.

3 years ago this time i was the CTO of a company and planning developments for the new Data Center that we were building.. ah good ol' times of testing massive AC's

Go to Inspiration. Play Video.

Below the video, you see the statement.

"Three years of researching, testing, and honing."

haha actually I don't think they have finished it, I quit after the building went up becuase of some other issues, and started my own gig.

Anyway long story short I saw it go live but then the GC put in the wrong AC Unit so the servers always rebooted because it was hot even tho my specs called for a different Unit but they wanted to save money and keep more to themselves.

So there you have it, 3 years and still no good DC, more like a microwave building ;)

I don't read that as the Pearl has been under construction for three years. The R&D leading up to the Pearl has been ongoing.

3 years of development for a new tech product isn't really that long.

I think people expect engineers to be miracle workers.

The Pearl is a massive leap forward for RIM with regards to design and functionality. They got it mostly right.

Sure there are some bugs...but that's to be expected with any new model. All new releases have some issues. The key will be how RIM responds to the issues.

But read the comments of people who have the device...most are quite happy with it.

So give some love to the engineers...what they accomplished doesn't happen magically.
