Default Synch at work & home

Please Login to Remove!

Hello:

I'm a new BlackBerry Pearl user ( a convert from the Palm Treo). I am successfully setup at work through its BES server. So my new phone is now populated with my Office Outlook email, tasks, contacts and calendar.

Now that I'm home, I wanted to synch my data in my phone into a fresh new installation of Outlook office on my home desktop. But in doing so, I keep getting the following message:

Synchronization is currently unavailable for:

Calendar, Tasks, Contacts

because the applications are configured for wireless synchronization. Desktop synchronization for the above applications will be disabled.

Can someone recommend how I can turn this off? I only want my contacts, tasks and calendar to be on my home desktop machine. Is this not possible? Otherwise, how do we manage data between two desktops (like is successfully accomplished through all Palm devices?)

Thanks again.

Lester

You can turn off wireless synchronization for those applications and do wired syncs to many desktops.

Wirelessly, you can only sync with one mailbox.

Thanks for your reply Zro.

What I'm looking for is the following:

I just want to put my BlackBerry Pearl's data on my desktop Office installation at home. Throughout the day, changes to my corporate calendar, tasks, email and contacts are reflected in my work Office installation as well as my Pearl. But I'd like to return home, and synch the updated data (especially my calendar) in my home computer. Isn't this possible?

I have seen others get this to work if you search for the threads.

Sorry if this seems off topic, but why not point your home Outlook directly at your work's exchange server via vpn, (and skip the BB as a middle man?)

Precisely DWC, I would have suggested the same. I do exactly what techlinks desires and have my laptop VPN configured to connect to Outlook exchange and sync the data. There are a number of advantages to this method than stopping Wireless synchronization and sync data. First it's alengthy process and it could potentially create duplicate records. Second the moment you stop wireless synchronization you will be deprived of BES's functionality in Calendar where you can wirelessly accept, reject or tentatively accept the appointment.

Wait I am confused lets back up here, if you point your home to your exchange it would create dupes?

I have my work outlook with exchange and my home and its on my laptop plus BES on my BB with no issue.

The Resolution is as follows:

To enable or disable wireless PIM synchronization

On the Home screen, click Address Book.
Click the trackwheel and select Options.
In the Wireless Synchronization field, press the Space key until the field displays
Yes (to enable wireless PIM synchronization)
No (to disable wireless PIM synchronization)

Click the trackwheel and select Save.
Click the trackwheel and select Close.
Press the Escape button.
Repeat these steps for Calendar, MemoPad, and Tasks.
