Default 8100 vs. 8700, which one should I buy from Tmobile?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, guys:

I really want get either a 8100 pearl or 8700 BB from Tmobile soon. Have some trouble deciding which one I should get, I really love the slim form factor of 8100 series and also like the large screen size of 8700 series. After couple days research, still can't make up my mind.

I tried browse web on both devices, it seems 8700 is faster than 8100, now I'm leaning towards 8700 series. I desperately need someone's input on this.

also is google map going to work on 8700?

Thanks a lot

Yes, Google maps will work on the 8700.

It also work on 8100.

The 8100 comes with it's own maps too. If you get Bluetooth GPS, you can use it to give you turn by turn directions (no voice).

I have an 8100, and my wife has the 8700. Side by side there is no difference in speed. Used as a modem on my laptop, I get exactly the same connection speed.

The 8100 has a built in map program, IMO is slightly faster than google maps. The form factor is just a bit taller than my old Moto RAZR. Also fits in the same leather horizontal belt holster.

The 8700 has a bigger screen. Much better for browsing & games.

The best thing to do is go to your local t-mobile and try them both out. I personally like the trackball on the 8100 rather than the side wheel on the 8700.

I currently own the 8100 and love it. I have had the 8700 and liked it as well, but the size and looks of the 8100 is great. They both seem to have the same performance.

I'm just like the rest of the people on this site, we love to have the latest and greatest at all times. My challenge is if I should buy the 8100 now or wait for the 8800 to come out. But since I have the patience of a fruit fly, I will be buying the 8100 within two weeks.

I had an 8700 and just switched to an 8100 yesterday. I don't use my phone that much on the weekends but I've been trying to use the 8100 alot to see if I can adjust to it. Getting used to SureType AND a trackball? It's all too much!! Just kidding.

So far, I've been very please with the 8100. The trackball has been a little harder to get used to but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. For the form factor and build (feels like it's built better than my 8700 IMHO), I think I'm going to stick with the 8100. Plus, it's soooo cool looking! It's about the same size as my Motorola SLVR... unbelieveable!

Now if I can only find a decent case...

Default 8100 for me..

I migrated from my 8700 to 8100 on Sept 12, and have no plans to switch back. Yes, some obvious compromises, but love the 8100 overall. Only wish now is for an OS /core SW upgrade, since the overall quality of the SW build is that of a beta.

Regards,

Sanjeev

I say get them both if you're able. I moved from the 7100i to T-Mo's 8100 and I love it. But with these meaty hands o mine, I'm going to need that 8700 so my fingers won't tie in knots. lol.
