So SureType is off on my phone, and I can't figure out how to get get it turned back on. I've got the little "ABC" bubble showing, but I can't get it to go away. On my 7100, I thought it was hold down the >> key, but nothing seems to work on this. Thanks for the help! (oh, and I searched!),

If you're composing a message and you click the wheel, do have an option to 'Enable SureType'? That's the alternate way to enable it on the 71xx.

Two ways to do this.

"Permanent" method:

Go to <options>

Scroll to and select <language> by pressing the trackball.

In <input language> select or make sure it says "English, United States" This tells the Pearl by default to use SureType.

Bonus Tip: If you see "United States, Multitap" that is why your SureType is off and not working. Multitap was set as the default.

Make sure to press escape key [key to right of trackball] and save the settings.

Other way:

While typing out an e-mail message, for example:

Press <menu key> which is the dotted key to the left of the trackball.

Scroll down to "enable SureType" if the "ABC" multitap icon was in the upper right of the display.

But use the first process to make SureType the default typing method.

For what it's worth, holding down the SYM/* key accomplishes the same thing. It's a bit confusing because it will call up the symbol screen for a split second, but it toggles between mutlitap and SureType the way that other key works on the 7100.

Thanks - interesting tip.

I always hold the SYM key, while on the home screen, to lock the phone. It is good to know that holding the key has another function during text entry.
