So I have managed to get my ISP to open up a port for me to host a small web site. I can web-sniffer the site - I can telnet to the site and port with midpssh I can view the site with a normal browser. When I try hit it with the BB browser I get 503 unable to handle your request server loading error.

Any suggestions.

Default Without a web browser?

I have a BB without a Data plan (for now), and I would like new ringtones...

How are the ringtones stored once on the blackberry?

Are they .cod files that could be sent?
Can you backup them up using the "Backup and Restore" of the Desktop Manager and send the backup files?

Default BES / ADP Ringtones

Could a BES be limiting the size of the adp files you can download? I tested some I made and I couldn't get anything larger than about 125KB play. I'm using MyBlueBerry for my BES and T-Mo as my carrier. Anything I made that was smaller than that played and saved great. P. S. If anybody has a clip they want done let me know. I've got the hang of it now and I have a site to post them on with a short url.

125k seems about the hard limit for the 7100t. To give you an idea though I got 7 seconds of Paul OkenFields - Stars in about 55k in adp format - finally got my web page sorted and it works great. Only bummer - had to switch into Windows to run the util. Sox would create a file - just would not play.

Ill do a few more notable snippets and put them up when done

It looks like 124k (or smaller) may be the limit. Don't know why I thought I had loaded a 198k ringtone before (I was thinking of the mp3 ringtone I made for my girlfriend). Tried loading a 124.3k file, wouldn't play. Trying again w/ 123K.

i can only get about 120 kbs to upload. this usually gives me about 15 seconds.

so i'm thinking that its either a 15 second limit or a 120 kb limit?

hopefully this info helps.

also is there anyway to encode the adpcm files at a lower or higher bitrate?

No, it's definately a size limit. A 14 second 123k file wouldn't play. As for encoding at a lower bitrate, I doubt it would work. Most mobile phones will only play ringtones of a certain bitrate.

What you could try doing is playing with the compression rate of the sample and get more info in smaller data footprint.
