I have a blackberry user in my organization that his 7290 will say "Out of Coverage, No service". When his bb is next to mine, I have coverage where he does not. His SIM card can be placed on another device and he will have full coverage. Updating the OS did nothing.

I have attempted to figure out how to solve this problem other than giving up and saying it's time for a new device. Any suggestions?

You mentioned putting his SIM in another device, but have you put another SIM in his device? Regardless it sounds like a device side issue given that you've checked the SIM.

Sounds like a hardware problem.

Funny thing. I asked Cingular if it could be a SIM card issue with his and working with the device. I didn't think of putting in another SIM card into the device and when I did, it noticed the data connection.

So, it appears all is not lost! Thanks!
