Yes that is probably a problem due to using the 4.2.0 JDE. I had a similar issue with playing mp3s.
You want to use the 4.1.0 JDE if you're planning to put the application on a handheld with OS 4.1.0. (Try to use the same version or older for the JDE. Newer versions seem to contain the classes and allow compilation and simulation but the depreciation of classes or something along those lines might have affected handheld operation)
