Default Blackberry Server Hosed. Rebuild Questions.

Please Login to Remove!

My BES is hosed. It keeps blue screening, it's on old hardware, and an old OS.

I am going to installed BES 4.1 on a Windows 2003 server. My question is, will I have to resynchronize everyone's Blackberry, or will there be no interruption in services outside of downtime between switching servers?

Actually, I believe I found my answer after searching. It looks like as long as the database is the same format, and I don't have both servers on at the same time, I should have no problems, correct?

What was the old BES version?

the databases formats made a big change pre to post 4.0 and you could have some issues if you were using pre-4.0 dbase

The current, hosed server, is BES 4.0. Not 4.1 as I stated earlier. I will stick with 4.0 too on the new server.

if the server is hosed, are you saying you wont be able to keep the same database? if thats the case youre very hosed indeed. if you have the database backed up, configure a new BES server, make sure its the same version you were running on the old server or the database will NOT work.

restore the old database, THEN upgrade the BES software if you need to

Server is hosed, not the DB. Thank you.

This just happened to us last week. Unfortunately our backup of the DB wouldn't take so I had to reactivate every user (all seven of them). Interestingly, though, when I added the users into the new DB it "remembered" the PIN's for everybody and even started pushing email. The IT policies weren't taking though which required a wipe and reactivation. TSupport guy said you don't even need a backup to restore. Apparently, on 4.1 SP2 anyway, there are two files that can be used to restore the DB but we couldn't get access to them until after I already had it going on a different server.
