First off, yours is a Vodafone OS, I have T-Mo and using the original OS that came with the U.S. Pearl. But some settings should be the same.

On the phone ring, you can change your settings to have the phone vibrate only once. This gives you some time to answer the phone as the audible ring will occur faster than if the phone is set to first vibrate two to three times.

By autotext are you referring to SureType? If so, your default settings may be set to MultiTap. To make SureType the default setting:
<settings>
<language>
<input language>
<English(United States)>
Press escape key [key to right of trackball]
Scroll to <save>
Press trackball to save setting.
I don't know what yours will say in place of "United States" but I imagine the general setting will be the same, for example "English, UK".

On the ringers, the default ringers are not all that loud. In addition to making sure the "volume" settings in "notifiers" or phone ring are set to "loud" simply download and install other ringers that are louder. For example, some of my classic phone ring sounds are ear busting.
I'll post some ringtones for you to try. Install them and see what you think, or should I say "hear."

Also whilst Im here ranting - how do I get rid of the 3 second delay on incoming calls? If I ring my BB I can hear it ringing for a couple of rings and I can see that an incoming call is being registered on my BB but it doesnt ring until 3/4 seconds have passed then it rings - I'm missing loads of calls because of this. Finally is it me or is the LOUD ring setting not that great, maybe it sould be called MEDIUM - any way to crank it up?
Rant over. Help would be great. Cheers. B.
