Default Will Alltel Enter 8700 Fray?

Lot's of talk on here concerning Verizon, but I know some of us are Alltel users. In the past Alltel and Verizon have gone pretty close on the release timing with new devices. So, any of you hot shots have any word on Alltel?

Well judging by the tone about Verizon's 8700, I'dsay the most recent posts about this matter (the one I found) is fairly on target.

Default anyone?

I also did a search here and at various other forums trying to find out if alltel plans to bring any of the 8700 series blackberies aboard, but was unable to find anything out. So if anyone here knows anything I'm sure myself and other would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the assistance stripsace, I have already done the same search and then entering each thread and doing search for the word alltel but was unable to come up with any alltel specific information regarding the 8700 and if they will be offering one any time soon, so with that being said if anyone finds anything out myself and others would appreciate it if you could share it.
Thanks again.

Default 8703e/ALLTEL

I would like to know as well. I use Alltel, I have a 7250 with them and would love to upgrade to a 8703e. Don't want the 7130e 'cuz of SoreType ooopps!! I mean SureType.

Someone told me off the record that Alltel might have an 8700 version in November, but I am very skeptical. Plus, I can't believe RIM is using the same processor in the 8703 as the 7250- that's absurd. Just that issue makes me question whether I even want an 8700. With that little power, it's probably going to be the first BB that freezes a lot.

All that being said, Alltel needs to get off their ass if they want to keep any data plan subscribers. Their current offerings are total dogpoop.

Alltel charges $29.99 for unlimited data on there smartphones. For BlackBerry's they have 2 data plans. (1) $44.99 for ulimited data with a voice plan. (2) $49.99 for ulimited data and no voice plan. I would think the 8703e for Alltel would be the same as what Verizon is selling. But with Alltel's loggo's and software.

I highly doubt it. I remember having Alltel back in the day and the reason that I left was because Alltel always had a poor selection of phones and when they did release something new, it was always wayyyy later than everyone else. I am paying for a service I said. I want those new devices. Otherwise, there is nothing keeping me here. After all, the service isnt THAT great.

in north east Wisconsin, Alltel owns. Best coverage of any. I guess I'll have to wait and see. He showed our company a demo unit (7250) and said they are getting a new model in November, he wasn't 100% sure which one. WHen he got back to his office he emailed me and said it was the 8703 that they are getting.

I agree that they do seem pretty far behind as far as phone selection goes... So maybe he was just blowing smoke.

Corey-

I totally agree. Though we are on an Alltel business acount, I could switch if I wanted to. An unnamed source has been telling me for a while now that Alltel will have the 8703e on November 16th, but no confirmation. Plus, I can't tell if it's really worth the money- all you really get is faster internet service compared to the 7250. The fact that they are using the same processor in the 8703e as the 7250 is a joke.

I have an 8703e from vzw & I can tell you that it is faster than my older 7250. Maybe not by leaps & bounds but it is notici ble. I sure do miss the build quality of the 7250 over this 8703e but I have no control over production of RIM's products!

We used to have Cellular One/Western Wireless which got bought out by Alltel. They had to continue to give us the super cheap rate plan we had with the old guys so we're sticking with them. As far as the 8703, we are probably going to add some more BB users so I'll try and give my 7250 to somebody else and get an 8703. But, I wouldn't get one just because it's new if that's the only few things that are better about it; especially if it's not built as good because I drop it all of the time.
