Default Blackberry browser not visible

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all.

I want to use the Blackberry browser on my 7280, with 4.0 software and desktop, but it's not visible. All I see is the Cingular browser. Before I upgraded to the 4.0 handheld software, both the cingular and blackberry browsers were working.

How do I make the browser visible again. I know I installed it. I need it for javascript compat.

Thanks.

Cool

Well, most carriers block the Blackberry Browser unless you're on a BES... Don't know about Cingular, though. I've read a lot of complaints over the last few days about Cingular's data side.

login to your BWC and click resend. something along those lines. you likely need the service book resent.

try deleting your old one, first. Options -> Service Book -> Menu -> Delete.

I have tried looking for the answer. Blackberry's site is horrible when you are looking for something specific.

We are on a BES server.

And what is the BWC and how do I send it?

Thanks for the replies.

if you are on a BES, just disable MDS and re-enable it after a few minutes. or they should be able to push service books to you (although it should have pulled this when registering back onto the BES). if they do not have MDS enabled, then you will need to login to your BWC account (it will be on your provider's website somewhere).

Call Cingular or go on the email client and send over the service books.

Red face Browser Not Visable

If you are on a BES server then MDS must be enabled. This is not done by default. Access the BES server managment console, find your device, right click and choose Enable Moble Data Service. This will send the serivice book and then the BlackBerry Browser Icon should appear

I'm with Cingular and I called them a few days back regarding the Blackberry Browser...it's only accessable if you're on a BES. Othewise Cingular BWC users only have access to the Cingular Browser.

The Cingular browser does seem quite capable. It does javascript, Flash/SVG, tables, etc. The only problem I have is RIM's "Blackberry Extras" site does not want to show up in its color version. But that seems to be a limitation of the site and not the Cingular Browser. It also shows up in Monochrome on my PC as well.

Go into options -> service book and verify that you have "Desktop [IPPP]" service book. if you do, then your BlackBerry Enterprise Server has MDS enabled for you. Good trick is to delete this service book, then go into Host Routing Table, click the thumbwheel and choose "Register Now" to reregister and get all the service books pushed down to you.

If you don't have that Service Book (or don't get it after a "Register Now"), then you will be stuck with the Cingular Browser (it will use either the "Cingular Browser [IPPP]" service book or the "IPPP for BIS [IPPP]" service book...i'm not on Cingular so I don't know what it is exactly)
