Default Two BB Issues : 1) Sent Items, 2) Data throughput meter

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there.

I recently purchased my first BlackBerry, so I am not sure if there are model specfic (Pearl 8100) or general BB questions, so here goes:

1) Is there a way to tell either the phone or the RIM service to send a copy of any email I send to my 'Sent' imap folder on my email server? I miss the record of having sent items stored there when I use the BB to compose and send email.

2) Is there a feature on the phone to tell how much data you have used (up and down)?

Thank you.

1) Im not sure, never used IMAP on a BlackBerry. This occurs with a BES server though (Exchange, Domino, Groupwise).

2) There is not a way. I believe someone was working on an application to do this but don't think they were ever able to get it 100% working.

Many people have asked for a program that keeps a tally on data use but no one has come up with a solution yet. It would be nice to see a finished product.

See if your carrier can help on the data usage -- either way, your monthly bill should give you some indication.

Unfortuantely right now that's the only way.

I'm sure others have their own way, but I can tell you what I did to have my sent emails also appear in my sent items. Note that I don't use IMAP, I'm not on BES and I use Outlook.

1) Create an email for this task. (I have a domain, so I created an email account [email address])

2) Log into your BIS and enter this new email address in the Auto-BCC field

3) In Outlook, set up a rule to have emails sent to [email address], go directly to the Sent Items folder

Like I said, I'm not the most tech-savvy person there is, so I'm sure there might be a better way to do this, but this is what I do and it works for me.

Hope it helps.

In the UK you pay $$$ per month and there's no additional data usage charges, so frankly who cares??
