I have a friend whos daughter just got her rn. Are there any medical apps for the bb, or should she go to a (no dont say it) PDA ... ? If so which pda is the hot one now. I never looked back after my switch to the bb several years ago now.

Check out this thread. A few here and there. Handango would be a good site to check too.

Well, there are certainly more medical programs available for both the PPC and Palm, than there are for the Blackberry. If she wants to stay with the BB, then one of the finest drug reference programs is Lexi-Comp, and they have recently started offering programs for the BB:

Lexi-Comp E-Store: Product Catalog

If she wants to get away from the BB, then I highly recommend the PalmTX rather than a PPC. She will run into more resets no matter which alternative to the BB she chooses, but the Palm has more offerings...and is very user friendly.

I run both my 8703e and a Palm TX, as I have not yet been able to find one single device that can handle everything. Hopefully with future BB releases RIM will come out with one single device that will meet all our needs, and that Software Developers play catchup with Palm and PPC Developers.

Default Pepid

PEPID is an excellent application. I recently purchased the ER MD suite and its proving to be a big help especially with drug interactions. The BB app will allow you to quickly enter eight meds and generate potential drug interactions, not to mention the decision tree on a host of illnesses/injuries/trauma.

I would suggest downloading the trial to insure it will meet her needs.
