Default 7520 and IRC

Hi everyone. I'm new here but I love it so far. What a wealth of info on my new favorite toy. I just switched from a Palm Tungsten to the Nextel 7520 and my only complaint is that no one showed me a BlackBerry before this.

I've been lurking and reading here all day and I want to thank Mark for his amazing software guide, but it has brought me to my first question for the forums.

I want to use IRC on my 7520.

I first installed WLIrc and followed Marks Instructions from the pdastreet forums which got the midlet connected to my favorite server but it would come up with an error and crashes shortly thereafter. :(

Then I saw that he is now recomending jmIrc and grabbed that but have been unable to get it to connect (locks up), with and without http proxy settings.

I've even tried adapting the WLIrc setting mark says to use to the jmIrc midlet just for fun, but have had no luck.

Is anyone using either of these with a 7520? if so what settings do you have working succesfully.

Thanks.

yout in luck my friend.....Because I had the same problem you had until now. I've tried JMIRC and some other one but the one that found that works really great for the 7520 is the WLirc. Got it going as soon as i got it. NO problems at all.

you can find it here

http://wirelessirc.sourceforge.net/

its also free....hope you enjoy....

Just thought i'd help cause i couldn't find anything specifically for the 7520 on this forum.

I have WLIrc installed :( it crashes upon connection to my server. What settings are you using? defaults out of the box or custom?

hmm i don't have any problems with my connection. Its slow at first but its decent speed for me. Make sure you have your connection setting on html not sockets. make sure you have the right server settings also. Those were the only things i changed. Sockets didn't work for me... and i'm connected to undernt server. hmmm....

For some odd reason the first 4 messages are blank on this thread to me.

Question, tried SEARCH, got here. I am running WLirc on my 7520 (Nextel) and it seem slow. If I watch the same chat room on my pc thats on my phone the phone is almost a minute delay. Is there something I can change to help this problem?

WLirc does? I just tried JMirc and got similar errors but have no problems other than lag with WLirc.

Try jmirc again. Get version 0.91, or if you can, 0.82, these have been stable for me on my blackberry.

Other versions are not so stable, there is a pesky bug for Blackberry users that the author may have solved by now, therefore maybe the latest version works, otherwise, if it does not ask him to send you 0.91 or 0.82.

Send all reports direct to the developer through his website, http://jmirc.sourceforge.net/
