I've recently been getting spam from someone whom is stating that he's looking for someone who can adopt some deaf children in UK. I have no clue how or why I had gotten this spam - repeately (about five times already in the past two weeks). I'm deaf and this is one spam that pisses me off! It doesn't make sense at all! Oh - It's coming through my t-mobile blackberry email addy.

All the instructions you need to set up filters are in this thread. You just need to know what email account is receiving the spam. This thread is mainly for receiving spam on a @yourprovider.blackberry account. My post #72 in this thread has instructions for filtering out this spam as do other posts in this thread as well.

Works like a charm. My BIS email address is hardly used so this filter works well for me.

I turned off level 1 status in BIS 2. I still get the spam but I don't notice.

The filters didn't work for me. I gave up and deleted the blackberry email account.

Same here. So, a bit more than a week now, it seems, and this fix seems to be effective in my situation, too. I am happy about this. Let's see how long it sticks.

I've noticed that spam in general declined. May be it were not just filters that helped.

Here's how to do it. This is from the RIM article.

"BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 and later

Step 1 - Create a filter to prevent messages containing specific information

Log into the BlackBerry Internet Service account.
Click the Filters icon beside the hosted address <USER>@<SITE>.blackberry.net.
Under the When no filters apply:, select the Do not forward messages to handheld option.
If filters already exist for this account, click the Add Filter link.
If the screen displays "No filters configured. click here to add one", click the Click Here link.
Add the following filter and click Add Filter:
Filter Name - something you can easily recognize
Apply filter when - select "To" field * from the drop-down menu
Contains - enter your BlackBerry email address
Select the Forward messages to handheld option
Note: It is not recommended to use the Header only option.

Configure another filter with the following settings:
Filter Name - something you can easily recognize
Apply filter when - select "CC" field * from the drop-down menu
Contains - enter your BlackBerry email address
Select the Forward messages to handheld option"
i just follow ur instructions...and now i'm no longer receive any new gmail to my blackberryl.

ps i have gmail forward it to my @mycingular.blackberry.net account.

and i follow ur instruction by putting in T0: AND CC: field filter with my @mycingular.blackberry.net account. Then try to send a test email...recieve it on my gmail...but not on my blackberry device. then i tried to add another filter with my gmail address...that didnt work either.

so wtf is going on here?

ps when i select "forward messages to handheld", i left "header only" and "level 1 notification" unchecked.

Wow I just found this thread. I've been getting spamed for 3 weeks but I was trying other unsuccesful methods. Hope this works. I was getting spam to my tmo.bb.net address as well as one of my personal email addresses. I followed the directions and set up the filters, so we'll see.

If I delete my @tmo.blackberry.net address how can I set up a new one? I prefer the native email than switch to yahoo and the like.

I also just tried the filters but have not received any emails yet.

BTW, spam is out of control. Upwards of 10 a day.

Just log in to your account on a PC. set up email accounts. There is a setup email for your device there.

Just curious if people are still getting many spam emails. I've been getting way to many in my opinion. I typically add ~4-6 email addresses to my filters each day and still they keep coming. On my tmo account I just added my 5th filter as the other 4 filters were full and couldn't be added to any more. Am I the only one or are more of you suffering from ****ing junk spam. This is getting ridiculous.

It's not the best solution, but it certainly isn't retarded. The filters suggest on this thread reduced but did not eliminate the spam. The only choice was to delete the account. Gmail is working nicely, so why bother with an account that doesn't have a spam filter?

I was getting a ton of it yesterday and decided to delete the @tmo.blackberry.net address. I use gmail instead.
