Thanks for all the help, but i give up!
I can't use it at all. It just keeps locking up on me.
Pressing the track ball gets me nowhere!
No big deal, i just won't use it on my pearl!

After it says "No profiles"
CLICK THE PEARL - do not touch any other keys. CLICK THE PEARL.
At this point, after you CLICK THE PEARL - you should be able to go into Options and add a profile and also "Disable MDS Proxy". You may have to click the pearl twice.
It really does work.

Do the exact same steps but do not disable the MDS proxy.

I'm a new 8100 user and still having trouble getting bbweather to work in spite of all the posts here. For instance, when I read "go to options, disable mds, and enter in a profile," I can only find "mds" by going to settings > options > advanced options > browser push > enable mds push, where there is a check box. Is that it or is it somewhere else that I can't find? I have disabled the mds push and still can't figure out how to enter a profile, which I believe would be my zip code. Many thanks for specifics here.

To add a profile, begin at the Options screen (where you Disable MDS by removing the check mark).
Press the menu key (to the left of the trackball). Select "add". Add the ZIp Code and a Description and scroll to the bottom and click "OK".
Then click the Menu button again to Save the profile
Then click the Menu button again to Close the profiles screen.

Well, NJ, "add" isn't there for me to select. I have change option, restore defaults, save, and close. This is with the bb at the "browser push" screen where the check mark is. I have installed bbweather with the app loader and the bbweather icon is on the desktop. I clicked that and got the screen saying no profiles were specified. I clicked OK, then had to back out to the desktop to select the options screen. Can you tell if I'm on the right or wrong track?

I have no idea where you are on the BlackBerry. I am sorry. You have to be withing the BBWeather application. Restore Defaults is not part of BBWeather. I don't know where you are.

Okay. Obviously I am not in the bbweather app. I appreciate your trying to help. Since I've installed and uninstalled the pgm several times without success, I will just uninstall it again and look for another wx pgm that is more compatible . Thanks, Geo

Oh, it's compatible with every BlackBerry....
Just not well documented as it is open source.

This is a GREAT weather program...one of the best, IMHO. it's simple to use but is a bit tricky upon NEW installation on the Pearl. Here are the steps, simply put, I hope, for the Pearl:
1. Download and install the BBweather.
2. Click on BBWeather icon.
3. When it says "error no weather profiles" click the PEARL ONLY-no other buttons! Then click the PEARL ONLY again to bring up the menu. Now you are into the program.
4. Now you can push the "menu" button to the left of the Pearl button and go to Options.
5. Push the "menu" button again and add your weather profiles using zipcodes or location ID's (zip codes are easiest)
The key here is when you get the "error, no weather profiles specified" DO NOT PUSH ANY OTHER BUTTONS until you push the Pearl once to acknowledge the error then again to bring up the first menu. After that you can use the "menu" button to the left of the Pearl button. It is a glitch in the program, presumably because it was written before the Pearl existed.
If you give up on it now you are missing out on a very nice piece of software that I, personally, use daily. Good luck!

Well, bbweather is finally working for me! John, you were the only one in this particular thread to say I must press the pearl twice, and that was the key. Without the second press, one is not in the weather pgm and cannot possibly find the right screen to disable mds and add the profile. I am a very literal person, ironically a technical writer for 30 years. If I need to press a button twice, someone's gotta tell me that! *Whew* Thanks so much to ALL for your help and patience. Lessee, it's 63 deg F in Orlando...

Fixed tunnel error - cost for Voicestream WAP?
Hi! I too was having the tunnell error on my 8100 - but thanks to the post below fixed it. However - here is a question - does WAP access via voicestream .com cost anything? I am on a corporate data plan using a BES. Why wouldn't that kind of TCP access already be set up?
Thanks for all the help!
figured mine out, I went to the advanced options, tcp:
APN:wap.voicestream.com
Uaername:use what you do to sign into my tmobile
Password: use what you do to sign into my tmobile

I did as described all in this thread but keep getting the "error: open tunnel - failure"
I have cingular, no BES - I checked all TCP settings and all looks fine - wap.cingular.com, etc.
This bites !

Go to BBWeather, click OPtions, make sure "Disable MDS Proxy" is checked.

Have you tried it with MDS proxy both enabled and disabled?
