Default Security Settings 8700C

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, need a help on the security settings..

My cousin was using my BB for a week while i was out of country and now i got a problem to fix (lesson learnt..never give BB to anybody...)

1. he got that security setting enabled with a timeout of 30 mins with a password. so whenever i lock the handset to unlock it i got to enter the password. Is there anyway i can just disable it so that it doesnt ask me ?

i tried finding the disable under options->security options->general settings->password->

but it has only WIPE HANDHELD along with change password, verify security software, save and close...i am scared to use wipe handled..

tks for your help

If you choose disable instead of enable for password that should fix it.

Click on password, it should say 'change option' not 'change password'. Switch the option to disabled.

Go over the steps again...I have an 8700c as well and above "Change Password" is "Change Option". Click Change Option and select disable.

Your cousin took your BB and connected it to a BES which pushed down an IT Policy onto it.

You should smack him with the BB.

Welcome to the forums!

On your BB go to Options >Security Options >General Settings. Scroll down a little ways. Do you see anything about "IT Policy Name:" and maybe a "Last Updated" date and "time stamp?" If so then your BB has an IT policy on it from a BES preventing you from disabling the password protection feature. If there is nothing about an IT policy then you should be able to disable the password requirement.

This guy loaned his BB to someone who connected it to a BES and that BES pushed the IT policy to the device. Like the rest of the posters I'd smack the guy I loaned the BB to as well. However, if you are on your company's BES do NOT try to get around the IT policy as you may be putting your job at risk! Many people buy used BB's with IT policies on them and they need to get them removed.

Hope this answers your questions...
