Cool

um... with the keyboard?!?

Not sure what you're asking, but it may have something to do with a little feature I like to call "Autotext."

In your options menu, you should find Autotext, and you can add entries to suit your needs. Very handy for multiple signatures.

Hope this helps!

Default smarttype defined

when you type a message and it guesses what you are typing, there are occasions when it does not comprehend what you are typing. Un common names for example.

how can i manually enter just 1 word into the text without turning off the smarttype?

Start typing the word, after each letter, roll the thumbwheel to what it should be putting in, and continue until you reach the end of the word. it will then learn that word. next time, just type it normally and it will show up on the word list.

Example. when typing my nickname for the first time, press the z key, then the r key, roll the thumbwheel to the zr option and hit the o key, roll over to the zro option. next time i just hit zro and it types it out.

Switch to "multi-tap" typing mode.

What if you are spelling out a long convoluted word and it doesn't recognize it....with the multi tap option, that'd be a pain in the butt.

or, what if it's something you use all the time...like me and my nickname, i'd hate to be typing out an email, switch to multi tap, then back to suretype then in the next message have to do the same thing.

Why not use suretype to your advantage and make it learn new words.

Better, predefine a text entry to a secuence of simple keys. For example, now in my 7100 ll translate to , oo to , jj to "je, je, je" and zz to my own signature as show in this message

Saludos,
Rafa

Each has its uses and advantages. If it is expected to be a "one time usage" kind of thing, multi-tap is for me. If it is something that I expect to use more than once then learning new words with SureType makes sense. If it is something very lengthy and/or a word I might frequently misspell or mistype, or for my "signature" (which has my name, title, work address, phone numbers (office and cell) and email address all on separate lines, I will define "shortcuts" in AutoText (I used zz for my business signature and zc for an informal sign off).

I frequently have to add words to the SureType dictionary, because my home language (Afrikaans) isn't supported, although Nederlands is pretty close.

If you've already typed the word, but it was spelled wrong, just erase up to and including the first wrong character, and type it again, it will automatically choose the right one this time. Then either use a combination of the above (type a char, erase it if its wrong, then type it again), or the "type a char and scroll to correct word" method.
