Are there any pictures or information on the size difference we can expect?

It will be the almost same size difference between slim battery VS the extended battery for 8700C that is available in the market now.

Why has the 8700g taken so much longer to release an extended battery and door than the 8700c? I know the 8700c came out first but it seems the 8700g has waited much longer since it's release date than the 8700c.

Boy, I'd sure like to know the answer to that one too!!! I've been waiting since May.

Does that mean I will have to replace the battery door? I've never seen the 8700c or one with ext bat installed.

Yes, that is what the wait is all about. It's the battery door. The extended battery that's been our for months will work it's just that a battery door hasn't been available.

The last time I talked to somebody, I was informed that there was a problem in the production of the door but I don't know how accurate his information was.

I have been waiting and waiting for this inventory too. I have 70 of this Extended Battery+Door ordered for the 8700g and same goes for the 7130e. I just hope that this will come out soon!

Question And then?

What's the latest on RIM's OEM extended battery and door?

I find it most odd & distressing that the 8700g has been out since the spring, and yet the extended door & battery still aren't available at shopblackberry.com (RIM's official online store).

No offense towards Seidio or any other manufacturer is intended, but I will buy ONLY a genuine, RIM manufactured OEM battery for my 8700g. So, I have no interest in any aftermarket battery from any other manufacturer.

I tried ordering an extended battery from cellphonemall.net. and called in once I received half of my order to ask why the battery did not come, he informed me that the original manufacturer (RIM) did not anticipate the large demand for the phones extended battery. I am in agreement with most everyone in here that the battery should have been out by now, but hopefully the first week in Jan, which is what I was told, will prompt us with some different results.

Update on the OEM... they should be here by the end of January or mid of February. My schedule shows that the extended batteries I have on order for the 7130e, 8700g and the 7100i are showing end of January.

I do not understand this at all. The 8700g has been out for going on a year or so now. As I see it, it will use the same ext battery as the 8700c which has been out for a while. Why has it taken so long to make a damn battery cover???

Im glad seidio has stepped up, and hopefully it does actually come out later today. We were told last week so we will see....

There is nothing to understand. The problem is in the production of the door. Yes it uses the same battery as the 8700c but the door configuration isn't.

Seidio makes great after market accessories. They provide options to buyers and users like you to get accessories that are not available in the market yet (I'm referring to the OEMs).
