I'm not using PocketDay. Just a Domino Server, BES, Lotus Notes, BB Desktop Manager and the blasted 8100

Removing the battery (only action taken so far) has reduced the unread count from 447 to 74.
However, it still does not tally with my inbox (7 unread)!

I have an issue intermittently where I receive messages, but I cannot see them unless I hit ALT + I. (I am using the default T-mobile Zen theme that puts all the messages in the same message folder) That might be what's happening with the message count... I'm using BES and BIS.

I have this issue too. It went away for 2 weeks for no reason and just returned on 2 days ago. Have pocketday. Does not make a difference if it is installed or not. I am on Bes and bis. Can not figure this one out.

i know when it happens, but not why!
Hi,
So I have this problem as well, and I know for sure when it happens, but cannot clear it at all.
If I send a message from my Notes client on my PC desktop, I get an extra unread message appearing on my pearl. I then look at sent messages, and open the message I just sent, as this is the ONLY new thing on the blackberry.
And it doesnt change the count. So, the increased unread count is based on number of emails sent from the pc desktop client.
Oh, its so frustrating!!! If you get an answer, do let me know.
Thanks
Perry

I had the same problem when I enabled call logging for missed calls. As soon as I set call logging to NONE and pulled the battery it stopped doing it. As long as I keep the call logging option to NONE.

call logging??
I'll try that, though I find call logging quite useful, so it would be a shame to lose it.
Are you telling me that call logging actually affects the unread count of sent mail items?!*!
Who wrote that cracking bit of code!
Actually, other than this, and a problem with synchronising not working properly, I think the pearl is cracking!
Thanks mate

It solved it for me. Although I agree with you that it would be ashamed if this is the only work around.

Update! So, I've tried all kinds of things. I discovered that call logging was set to none, so logs only appear in phone section, not message section. I changed it, changed it back, rebooting in between but it didn't resolve the problem. Still got unopened message count going up as I send messages.
I reconciled over usb with my laptop, but that made no difference either.
Ah well, I think its a lost cause until a software patch comes out!
Thanks anyway.

Are you all running clustered servers and/or have replicas of your email files on any other servers? Check the setting in the database properties (for the mail file) to replicate unread marks across all replicas or only across clustered servers.
Just a thought...

Not sure about that. Will ask the guys looking after the server. No one on other BB devices seems to have the problem, just the pearls.

currently if you have the message count fixed with the work around it will come back....the work around is only a bandage solution. According to RIM there is no ETA on the fix but it's said to be fixed with a future handheld software release from the carrier...
