VERIZON_i recently received a second hand 7130e and when i tryed to activate it i was told that i needed to purchase a data plan too. i went into a verizon store and spoke to two seperate CSRs and they told me the same thing. if there is a way to activate my phone without the data plan could you tell me how i would go about doing that? best regards_VERIZON

i got a 2gb transfer plan.. it the only one that Movistar offers me, recently i just conected my 7250 to my laptop and it goes fast but i quite afraid of exeding my limit of Data, since its already expensive to have a BB and wouldnt want to increese more phone charges...

if theres a software ither for a laptop/BB to mesure over a period of 30 days my data rate / or my data usage please let me know.. my company would tell.

Not trying to get you to switch to Cingular but simply changing the SIM card on a Cingular phone will allow any Cingular phone to work with that SIM. The Blackberry will work on Phone only and you wont get any data unless you have a plan.

I also wonder why you would want a BB when there are some nice phones out there that offer more phone features.

Wirelessly posted (BLACKBERRY 8703e (ALLTEL): BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/106)

BlackBerry without a data plan. The BB will try to sync with the network and without a data plan it will be denided generating a failed call. A tech might see over 8000 failed calls on the system because someone had a BB without a data plan. Therefore carriers like Verizon and Alltel require a data plan. And yes there is no way to turn this off.

I've read most of the threads about using a blackberry without a data plan, but still can't get a definite answer. Is anyone here actually using a blackberry without a data plan from Verizon?

There are numerous answers on this board about that question...

1- Yes, you can use your BB as a phone, and not have a data plan.

2- No, you cannot use the internet browser or send e-mail, without a data plan.

Yeah, definitely ask Verizon if they can disable the data feature but for the most part if you do not run any programs that require internet access it wont grab it and for 3rd party apps it will ask you whether or not it can connect.

I'm about to be issued with a Pearl by my employer. My employer uses Vodafone in the UK. The phone function will be disabled. My personal mobile is on the Orange network.

I haven't a clue how these things work, but is it technically possible to have my Blackberry data on Vodafone, and my phone calls on Orange. I don't think my employer objects to using the phone feature of the Blackberry - just paying for the calls.

Unfortunately no; there is only one SIM card in the BlackBerry, so voice and data must use the same carrier.
