Yes, but I just bought an unlocked phone and used it on cingular. It broke and I was SOL. Don't feel like dealing with that again.

How would buying a used locked Cingular Pearl be any different?

Because if I buy a new cingular pearl and have the box and it breaks I can go to my store and have it replaced under warranty or insurance. If I buy an unlocked tmobile phone and it breaks I am on my own.

That's even hard to say - as you need to prove the warranty.. and most of the time the phones sold here don't include it (Even locked, cingular ones)

In anycase - in my opinion, it's quite rare for a BB to 'break' unless something happens thats outside the warranty in anycase.
