Default My second 8700g from T-Mo - Help!

Please Login to Remove!

So, I got my first 8700g from T-Mo in July. Worked great until December, when the track wheel started sticking.

Got my replacement around Dec. 28th. Was kooky right from the start - rebooted by itself, battery cover didn't fit right, some 3rd party apps didn't work the same.....

Then it started getting worse and started typing different characters than I was typing (e.g. d= jk). T-mo rep had me reload software and things got much better, but she offered to send me another one overnight at no charge.


The serial number sticker looks like it is stuck OVER another sticker.

Also, on the fonts on the new one seem different (the CE number is bigger) and while one has just an icon of a lock, the "new replacement" has an icon with a circle and a line through it (I think it's not to throw the battery in the garbage) next to the lock icon as well

I know T-Mo can send a refurb in "Like new" condition, but specifically how can I tell if I got a refurb? If it works great, I don't care, but I don't want another lemon.

They both say Made in Mexico. What else should I be looking for?

Are you sure? When I spoke with a rep during the first replacement he told me that the 8700g was new enough that I would most likely get a new one.

When they 1st came out you would have probably got a new one... After about a month or so they are flooded with refirbs... After the device has been on the market for a month or so, you are gonna get a refirb... Unless it's replaced under the insurace.... Insurance will get new, warranty will get refirb....

Hmmm...well, what about the discrepancies in the sticker? My first replacement was after they had already been out for several months.

I guess the end result is that if it works well, it won't really matter. It's just getting annoying to have to reload apps and customize stuff each time.

I know the feeling.... Mine was just replaced for a geeked trackwheel as well

Phooey! I'm on hold for T-Mo. I spent almost 2 hours getting all of the applications loaded again and now I am getting an hourglass icon just moving from app to app. It's extremely slow and I am extremely annoyed!
