I went to blackberry.com on my 8700g today and there is a link to the Maps program there now.

Loaded it, tried it. Not everly impressed.

It gives you directions just fine.
It you have a GPS, it follows OK at slow speed, but does get bogged down at faster speeds.

However, the directions and the GPS don't talk to each other. It doesn't reroute. I can't specify current position for a start point.

I'm using the built in gps with this app on my Sprint 7130e. I don't have any of the lag that some others seem to be reporting. It tracks me just fine at highway speeds; refreshes my location, speed, and direction every second or so. Good enough for me, especially for free.

That said, all in all I like the overall look and feel of google maps better, but i'll use BBMaps pretty extensively for the GPS functionality alone.

I have this exact same problem with some random selection of addresses. For example; my own record it finds my Home address no problem. For my Work address, it just pulls "address" and not "city and state" and errors out.

I'm on page 3 of 4. Hopefully by the time I get to 4 I can edit/delete this message, as I'll have found the solution

There was one post which said to "add country". I am not going to add countries to my ~350 contacts. Also, my home address also had no country. This is crappy if even somewhat true :(

Best I can tell you need the country entered. Kinda doofus if you ask me.

Yes you can use current position, select directions, press menu button, use map center.

Under Options, you must select a GPS device.

The only item under options was location based service. Under this option I see GPS with either location or 911 option. I selecter location.

Could it be that it sees the Bharti OS on my 8700 and won't accept it? Ouch if that is so?
Go into your Internet Browser settings and restore defaults. Then try to d/l again. I had the same issue and doing so fixed it for me

I have a 7250 and there is an option in the Options for "Location Based Services". Does this mean my unit has internal GPS? I've installed Blackberry Maps and can't get the GPS to connect, options are all there. I'm versed in GPSs so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.

Any thoughts?

Joe

Just got a BT GPS receiver and BB Maps works pretty good with it. Once it loads it keeps up with my position though a little sluggish.

Is there a way to have the 7520 feed live GPS info into the BB maps? right now I have to Ping the GPS Manually.
