Has anyone else noticed how annoying the 2 level backlight is? I'd prefer to have it 1 level or user selectable. When I setup the backlight level, I do it so I can read the screen, very often I set it to something around 50% so I can try and preserve battery life, but when the light drops to it's lower level, it makes it very difficult to read under some ambient lighting conditions.

I'm sure some people like it, but to me it doesn't make sense. Why have 2 levels if you can't control when or to what level it's drop?

Is there a way to hack this option to force a single level? (on OS 4.0)

Because many people complained that it was not bright enough. Or too bright. So here are two settings (which I really like)!

I always thought it had to day with indoor and outdoor lighting, UV etc. Example I usually use the first step backlit when I'm outdoors and the second when I'm in the office.
