No, I'm not worried about them seeing the content (it would bore them to tears). I'd rather know it just isn't going through the corporate network so I don't have to hear some admin whine about misuse of corp resources.

I don't use the BES browser for just this reason. The IP address resolves to a corporate domain. I use the cingular or internet browsers which resolve to att.com and blackberry.net respectively.

Thanks
...that is a fantastic question. I'll see what I can dig up on that.

In the meantime, anyone who knows this answer is welcome to chime in (pleasepleaseplease). =P

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I had put Yahoo to GO on my 8700 C. Yes on Cingular and now this installed OTA and ran with no issues.

Very snazzy. I'm not all that familiar with Yahoo! Go, but perhaps I'll be testing it out later on.

I'm still looking into it, gnrxx. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the delay.

I don't yet know if it goes through the corporate network, per se; I don't believe it does, as it doesn't require being on a BES to function. However, I do know that if you're on a BES, then the BES administrator may need to enable Y!M traffic.

More updates as further events warrant.

I have confirmed that the Service Book is there and I can only imagine that Yahoo! Go added it, so that is quite frankly an easier work around.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I gave this approach a shot. I loaded Yahoo Go, then tried the Yahoo Messenger OTA, with no luck. I did not get the required Service Book

Interesting. I have no idea how that Service book would have gotten on my BB otherwise.

Hmm. Oddness. I couldn't tell you, either. Depends on your carrier, maybe. Like I said above, T-Mobile will automatically provision the service book upon installing Y!M, whereas Cingular will not. From my own knowledge, it doesn't seem to matter as to whether or not one does the OTA installation or the desktop/USB/webloader installation, but that just appears to be how it works.

Another very easy way:

1. Get a non-Cingular BB (from a friend or family?)
2. Install YiM on it
3. Use "Switch Device" on Desktop Manager to move your service to this non-Cingular BB, making sure you also transfer application data by checking the appropriate checkbox
4. Switch back to your Cingular BB (follow same steps as 3)
5. The "BBFS2 [YHO]" Service book is now copied on your Cingular BB
6. YiM works perfectly on your Cingular BB!! IM away

This seems like a much easier solution.

All right ... well, then, in that case, we should probably stick with the above-certified methods of success.

Haha, sweet. Good to know. If anyone has any real difficulties with it, or learns anything as far as additional functionality or capabilities, feel free to PIN me or add me to your BB Messenger.

Spencer I do have a little problem here.

First part of my problem was resolve already but I'm having problem signing in on yahoo. I've got my service book and it say:

Record Type: Active
Name:BBFS2
UID:NAYH01
CID:YHO

USER ID:-1
DSID:

Gateway IP: <No Gateway>
Description: Yahoo! Messenger

If I try to sign in to yahoo it only until

" signing in as blah blah bla

connecting to Yahoo!

Cancel sign in"

and that's it nothing more.

I even wait for an hour but nothing happen.

I suspect I'm downloading corrupt files from www dot blackberry dot com\go\yahoo coz when I tried to go and check yahoo module properties I'm getting an error msg something like "uncaught exception: Java.lang.illegalargumentException"

Anyways hope somebody can provide working .alx that I can intall it thru Desktop Manager.

Ahh, well, you need actual BlackBerry data services on your handset for this to work, not just the WAP services.
