I bought a bb a little while back, person said it was new and appeared to be in such condition. In fact he had several of them, his uncle works for Cingular. So i tried to get the 8700c unlocked....they tell me the IMEI isn't resgistered? Is this a bad thing or can the bb only be used with Cingular service? Any thoughts would be really appreciated.
Also, i really like this site, good useful information found here, and very helpful users!

Usually not a good sign when the IMEI is not regiatered.
Cingular should be able to provide the unlock code for you. I have my BB's unlocked.
Cingy has always been willing to provide the code for me. Just takes a few days.

Thank-you for your input. I'm not a cingular user..i'm from Canada. I had intentions of getting it unlocked and using it here.....can you get it unlocked? i don't mind paying for it.

Since you're not a Cingular customer Cingular probably won't unlock it for you. If the third party unlocking services can't unlock it then you're out of luck. Check around with the different unlocking services, hopefully one of them can unlock it for you.

Yeah well, i think i'm out of luck!!!.....BB for sale anyone. It prob will only work with Cingular correct?

Cingular doesn't see it registered because it's not registered with them. It's not an active handheld with an account.

Try a third party unlock service, like GSM Phone Source. They should be able to unlock it with little issue.
