Actually, you will still have the modem support, if you upgrade to the very latest version of the OS 4.0 on the 7100t (i.e. 4.0.0.219)

I heard from a few others that slightly newer versions of OS4 has finally fixed the problem. What version of OS4 are you using on your 7100t? Go to Options->About or Tools->About and let me know!

Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate your help. I have 4.0.0.198. I see you mention 4.0.0.219 in the last post, but it is not available on www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade. Where can I find it and does it fix the audio static and distortion problem to your knowledge?
A forum member has kindly given me the link to 3.8:

yea go to desktop manager -application- when you get to the screen that has advance on it select it and make sure there are checks in all three boxes. DO A BACK UP FIRST before any of these steps. when you have done that go to backup/restore and select advance and only restore the files you need like address book and stuff like that do not perform full restore just the files you want

The link for Nextel v4.0 download in the original post for this thread is broken and not working.
Can someone update it or post the correct link?

So will the Vodafone UK OS upgrade reinstate a network SIM lock? I managed to crack mine so I can use any network SIM and clearly want to keep it that way!

I just clicked the link and it took me to the RIM Download site for Nextel. Is that part not working for you or was it down?

It wasn't working earlier -- RIM had some site problems, but it's back to normal now.

Hello all... my apologies for what is most likey a redundant question, but I am just wanting to confirm that things are working and good to go:
- I own a Blackberry 7290 on Rogers
- Current OS = v.3.8.0.139 (Platform 1.8.0.99)
I see from the link you provide, that Rogers/Blackberry currently have available:
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.0.0.274
- Package Version: 4.0.0.274
Consisting of:
- Applications: 4.0.0.219
- Software Platform: 1.8.0.129
I'm just wanting to ensure this upgrade works when performed and ultimately if I should be expecting any problems when I go through it.
Cheers.
- Kraig

Want to downgrade -- need file for T-Mobile
Hi all,
This is my first post to this forum so I hope you can bear with me...
I have had a Blackberry 7230 from T-Mobile for around 6 months. I love it!! Recently, a friend called to my attention that there is a new version of the Blackberry Handheld software, version 4.0. So I downloaded it and installed it.
Now the bad news... I absolutely hate the new software. I mean, sure, it is pretty much the same as 3.6 (or whatever version I had before), but there are a few REALLY annoying things. First, it is much slower. For example, when I click on something, it waits around 1 second before actually doing what I want. This "click-then-wait" delay is a real killer as far as I am concerned. Second, the fonts are different, and I hate the new Millbank Tall. The old one was better. Third, the view of the calendar is not as good in my opinion...
Anyway, what I would love to do is just get "back" to whatever version of software I had before. I believe it was 3.6, but it might have been 3.7.
I saw the instructions posted about "What If I Want To Downgrade", and this will be very helpful. The problem is the step that reads "Download the version of OS you want to install from your carrier's website". T-Mobile may have this burried somewhere, but I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with them, and they ultimately could not help me or tell me where it was.
Does anybody have a version 3.6 or 3.7 file for T-Mobile? Man I hope so. I just can't take the slow response. I could probably live with the other things, but this "click then wait" is a real deal-breaker for me. If I can't resolve it I will go back to my old Nokia...

Download Cingular 3.7.1.115 for 7280. It will work on your T-Mobile 7230.
It's the best 3.7 release.

Thanks for the replies guys...
Call me old fashioned, or just plain weird, but I tend to like the first thing I see, or hear. Like the original version of a song, etc. I almost always hate the re-makes you hear on the radio...
With that being the case, I am finding myself wishing that I could go back to my original version. What I have right now is 3.7.1.115 (inside the applications say 3.7.1.59). I like this version better than 4.0 because it is faster. But still there are differences from whatever version I had before.
* If I press the PHONE button, it expects me to enter a number instead of a name. I have to do two extra steps to get to the point where I can enter a name if I want to call someone.
* Fonts are still smaller in the Web browser
* When I dial someone, the numbers are nice and big now, but actually so big that often you can't read the whole phone number...
With this being the case, I am wondering if there is some central repository with Blackberry software versions? I have a friend whose applications are version 3.7.0.36 and it is much more what I am looking for, but I don't know where to find the file. Can anybody point me to a web page that might have some different (vintage) versions?

I updated my 7520 over the weekend. I did lose my NOL browser, but no biggy because of req. My major problem is I can receive email fine, but anytime that I try to send email, I get "No message services configured. You will only be able to save draft." I use web client and occasionally redirector. I never had this issue with before the upgrade. I have went through the nextel site to my blackberry account and everything seems to be ok. Went through my bb and can't find anything wrong. Does anyone have any magical wisdom for me????

Have you tried to sync with more than one cpu. Also if you run redirector and Web Client you shouldn't be generating keys, set it to manuel and cancel when it asks you to generate a key.
I run redirector at work, and web client for all my home e-mail, I have to use Desk Top Manager 3.6 on my work CPU that I use my redirector on due to some known glitch in the new DTM 4.0 software. I have DTM 4.0 installed on my home CPU and only use it to for Application Loader features, DTM 3.6 doesn't see any applications from my experence.
Cliff Notes
Work CPU DTM 3.6 & I only sync with this cpu
Home CPU DTM 4.0 only for installing applications
Never generate a key.
Redirector @ work
5 web client e-mail accounts...All from the hip.
