I dont know what to do lol, should i get the 8800 or wait for a camera version or what hahahah, i dont know what to do. How much is it with an extended 2 year contract? Please advise! I'm still using my 7290 lol.. someone tell me what to do, i have one on reserve at a local cingular to be picked up at 530 eastern and i dont know what to do!

I did. Changed carriers also. This is my first smartphone. My thinking was that the 8800 will be current or certainly acceptable technology for quite some time. Some carriers are calling the 87xx new. Everyone I talk to has good things to say. Bite the bullet an get your hands on one.

to be honest i would wait for the one that has the wifi and the cam in it. the 8800 thats out right know is not worth the 500 or the 299 for just memory card slot and a new look. i feel if you are really going to drop the money get something with more in it, plus 3-4 month the 8800 is old news then the new one comes out with all the goods in it. 500 dollers hell i can buy a laptop for that price .

Please advise? You know you need to make this choice for yourself depending on how bad you want it and how much money you got to spend. There will be a camera version soon but it is up to you to wait or not.

No, he needs to make a rational decision on whether the features of the 8800 deliver benefits, based upon his requirements as compared to what his 7290 delivered and/or lacked.

test out both the 8800 and 8700,, i didnt like the 8800 keypad coming from a 7290 to a 8700 and then the smaller 8800 keypad...

thanks all for your posts. Part of me wants to wait for the camera version and part of me wants to get a new phone. I know this is covered all over the place in the forums but is there any set date as to when the camera version will be coming out? I did the same thing with the 8700 and said screw the 8700 ill wait for the 8800 and here i am a year later same 7290 and in the same shoes again! I think I may just wait for the camera version though, I miss my old camera phone a lot and the ability to recieve and send photos to friends and have a camera on hand at all times. Let me know what you think. Thanks a lot!

dood, I felt the same way but honestly, who says you can't sell your 8800 in 6 months and use the proceeds toward the camera version?

Thats my plan - I bought an 8800 today for $400, selling my 8700c for $150, will sell my 8800 in 6 months after I unlock it (keeping it in prestine shape hopefully), and will use the rest to get an 8800 camera for the upgrade price (hopefully around $300). I'm guessing I will come out somewhere around even?

It is human nature to want new even if it is not needed. The 8800's build quality greatly exceeds the 8700 and you will enjoy it for sure. Like the other poster said you could ge the 8800 now and sell it in a few months when/if the camera version comes out.

It still breaks down to YOU and haw bad you want and how much you can spend

For me personally I bought the 8700 late last year and love it. I thought about the pros and cons of the 8800 and decided to wait for other versions to see what BB can put out. $500 is a lot for just a few changes from the 8700.

The 8700 does enough for me, for now and it was the best business investment I've made at $300 unlocked with no plan.

If you need a camera phone, find a nice $100 model (with a nice speaker phone) for now that will tide you over until BB comes out with one with a QWERTY keypad. That is what I've done.

I've found that the keyboard is the best yet. It took a couple days to get used to the different feel, but it feels better to me than any of the 72xx or 87xx series. Admittedly I do have somewhat small, girly little fingers.

yeah i know...but the keyword it is FREE. anyway, i saw this post and remember going to a cingular store to check the pearl and the keyboard sux ass too. u put 2 and 2 together...

but im gonna still go and check the 8800 when i go home tonite.

like i said...there isn't any significant difference between the 8700 and 8800 except for mini sd card slot. to me...a big difference is if this 8800 could do hsdpa aka 3g...and it can't. im just putting a common sense to the ppl that rush out and try to get this unit.
