To be specific it pops a warning block up and states" no additional applications designed for your device found."
Two things to check: Are all three files showing up in your folder - 2 .cod files and 1 .alx file? You need to make sure that the text file gets saved as .alx extension or it will not work.

I did exactly what you said. I have a gmail folder and it contains three files. 1 gm_8700_v4_0_en COD File 2. gm_8700_v4_0_en-1 COD File and 3. gm_8700_v4_0_en.alx ALX File.

When you created the .alx file, did you only use the code below? It worked perfectly for me. Are you also using the newest version of Desktop Manager (4.2.1.6)?

<loader version="1.0">

</fileset>

</application>

Based on the directions, it installed correctly, but when I try to get mail, or refresh, I get the following error message

java lang runtime exception unexpected server response 403 null

8800 purchased today, so assumedly running latest software.

Default Worked the second time

I reloaded it using the custom alx file described earlier, and it worked this time. Weird, but good

Likewise. Go to gmail.com/app and download it. Works fine!

Does anyone else get a message that gmail is trying to access the phone logs? I've been denying, and then I get an exception message. Any idea why the app needs access to the phone log?

telenav tried to access my phone logs too. i'm guessing it is to help locating local businesses etc. that is my guess for gmail/google maps/google universe....
or they are collecting info about you.

I seriously doubt Google is collecting any phone log information. It just wants access to the phone app so you can dial out from within the google or telenav app.

I downloaded the gmail app from my 8800 web browser today. It works fine. Is there a way for the app to let you know when you receive a new email?
