For example with the 8700 if someone calls and you do not want to answer it and blatantly decline there call you could just scroll the thumbwheel and it would stop the ringing and vibrating.
With the 8100 I cant seem to find the similar thing, does anybody else know? For example I am sitting at my desk if someone calls with the 8700 i could just scroll and it would stop now with the 8100 i have to sit there adn keep scrolling around the trackball the entire time the phone is ringing. Any help please?
I have tried that as well, you are talking about the button at the top right of the phone in silver? It only mutes it for like 2 seconds until the next round of rings start.
with bluetooth headset paired the mute button on top works just fine for silencing the phone ringer, while the headset itself still rings. without bluetooth paired it seems to work as well. I have only tried this with full songs but scrolling the wheel only silences for a few seconds for me. I have the 0.88 revision of the OS however, this may have something to do with it.
OP... I don't know what to tell you... I just confirmed that this works on my phone. Rings were muted for the duration and vmail picked up. I'm not using a custom music file for my ringtone.
I'm running Cingular .71 on my TMo Pearl. What are you running?
oh oh oh....i know!!! press any of the volume buttons(up or down) and it will stop it from continuing to ring...finally! I can constructively contribute to this site.
In defense of the poor treo - the switch on the top to toggle between ring and silent was pretty handy. To be honest, I don't really understand what the silver button on top actually does. It certainly doesn't do what I would expect it to do.
