Default Installing BES 4.1 Express

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

Has anyone comes across a database error when installing BES 4.1 express on exchange 2003? When going through the process of installation and choosing Database Settings, I have opted for Local and the default options. It then asks if want to upgrade the database and if click Yes, it comes back with error to say Database Upgrade Failed, no others errors, but cannot continue with the install.

Any help appreciated.

it shouldnt ask you to upgrade the database if its a first time install since there isnt a blackberry database. try naming the database a diffrent name and it should ask you if you want to create the dataabse

That's what I thought. I have ren-named the existing databases, just in case. It does ask me if want to create the database now, and then when it completes that, comes back with error "DB upgrade failed. SQL function error"

any ideas about this? I have installed BES on several servers and never seen this error before.

Have you checked the permissions for database?

My BES is standing on MSDE so I don't have experience with BES&MSSQL.
Maybe sombody who uses MSSQL will answer.

The easy fix is not to use the default database name. e.g. add a 1 on the end. BESmgmt1.

I actually did try re-naming the database but still would not work.

I re-installed SQL and now it is working fine.

Thanks for all your responses

itcontractorltd, it sounds as if you had gotten it all resolved. how does one go about removing and reinstalling the SQL?
